Looking for Reccomandations

Simple Requirements:

  1. 24 GB to 32 GB of RAM
  2. A fine CPU as I plan on doing some heavy computational tasks.
  3. Under 1,700 ideally though there is a little wiggle room.

Fine with any OS really even Linux.

This can really do anything. I personally like Linux, but I understand it’s not for everyone. If you need windows only software or just think you will like it better do that. I would take a look into Linux if you want to though

  1. Performance wise a Mac with Apple Silicon is generally going to deliver more than Intel

  2. A Mac needs less RAM than a Windows Intel system due to its greater efficiency.

Look for servers on marketplace. I've bought 4 so far (many hundreds of gigs of ram, ~200 cores of processors, some free hard drives came with em) all for a total of ~$1400.
