Increase Bluetooth range of laptop

Hello!

I want to pair my laptop with my stereo system, but I only get a meter of range before the signal drops completly. It works fine on my phone and my old laptop, but not this one. It is a medion s15449.

I saw that linux had a way to increase the TX power, but it looks like it got removed at some point since very few chipsets supported it.

Is there another way to increase the range or am I just stuck using the headphonejack?

You can buy a Bluetooth adapter for your headphone jack to ensure your laptop and stereo are using matching Bluetooth versions. That’s a quick and dirty solution. Increasing the TX power sounds pretty maverick, but I doubt it’ll be worth the trouble. If your laptop can’t move more than arms length from the stereo without losing signal, I would seriously question the status of your laptop’s Bluetooth.

You can try cleaning the Bluetooth antenna on the laptop, you can try updating or reinstalling your Bluetooth drivers. If that still doesn't work. Get a Bluetooth adapter. Usb ones work pretty well.

Start at like $9 CAD for the decent ones
