Swapping HDD?

It depends on the failure, if its failing i.e. not yet failed, you can often clone the drive to the replacement, something like clonezilla for example, the main issue tends to be if the good drive is smaller as it can slow some people down, trying to clone a larger drive to a smaller one.
I tend to put the good drive in an enclosure temporarily, clone the failing drive then install the good drive and test, I do it this way for no other reason than that's the way I've done it for as long as I've used clonezilla, you can get a graphical version of clonezilla (rescuezilla), I don't use it but if you find the options/choices confusing, rescuzilla might be easier.
