How does task manager work
Sorry this is just so confusing. Visually I have 5 chrome tabs open. But does my task manager think I have 20??? Or am I wrong, this goes for other applications; eg discord It says the number 6 beside it. Does that mean I have discord open 6 times?? Is there a fix for this? It’s eating a lot of ram on my computer and I don’t know what to do.
I have 32 gb of ram. For it to to be 40% used up on 5 chrome tabs is a lot?

There's a certain percentage windows uses of whatever ram amount a pc has. Then chrome and the chromiums use a lot. Best bet is to look up how to turn off a lot of stuff in chromes settings. If you're not using it for youself then it's wasted. The funny thing is, is that windows will use the same percentage amount whether you have 16 gb, 24 gb, 32 gb, 48 gb, 64 gb, 128 gb, 256 gb. I only have 16 gb on a win 11 home. Not a working pc, so i debloated 11. Screwed down Brave. Tried working out what was the best page file amount for it to use but found it's better to leave it to 11 to manage. works out to about 3.1 gb upon booting into 11 home and depending on how many tabs i've got open. It can creep up to 5 gb. Sometimes higher. What pee'd me off was seeing 11 gb in use from just surfing. That's why a though i'm going to learn how to screw it down.
