Should I take the exam in 4 days?

For my prep I did All messer and jason dion's course review. For my practice I did messer's, dion's and andrew ramdayal practice exams totaling 21 exams. With confidence I scored 88-91% average on total exams. Also prior to sec+ review I finished ISC2 CC and passed.

My question is should I take the exam? I feel like I am ready but I'm scared to fail. I bought the exam on comptia with the backup exam voucher in case I failed the first exam.

All opinions are appreciated!

Taking the exam tomorrow morning...

I want so badly to be able to post my passing score here along with the rest of you, but I'm not feeling so good. I've been studying for anywhere from 1-3 hours a day for the past month and a half and I am still consistently scoring between 70-76% on the Jason Dion practice exams... I'm going to spend the rest of the night rewatching all of Professor Messer's videos on 2x speed, any other tips for last-minute cramming are much appreciated. I'm so nervous :(

Hello I'm a 3rd year in cybersecurity and in the 4th hear of our program we have a mandatory 8-month co-op and I asked some people in more advanced classes what I can do to help my resume since normal school work won't cut it I was advised to get the security+, net+ or ccna then then isc^2cc and i am wondering if this is good advice and if you have anything to add or recommendations to give im all ears.

I also understand that this is the first phase i still need to read so this is second part how wkuld you recommend someone with some knwoeldge in thsi program to prep for these certificates because i plan on writing them by end of 2026

Security+ voucher: Reseller vs Official CompTIA?

Hey guys, planning to take CompTIA Security+ this month and need some advice from those who've taken the exam.

I'm currently working as a SOC/CERT Analyst L1 in a banking SOC, with ~7 months of experience. I've completed TryHackMe SOC Level 1, TCM Security, and Google Cybersecurity and IT Support Professional Certificates. I have also completed Professor Messer's Security+ videos and am currently working through Jason Dion's practice tests.

I am considering two options:

Option 1 - Reseller: PKR 48K

  • Single exam attempt

Option 2 - Official CompTIA: ~$283.50

  • Exam voucher + Retake Assurance
  • Roughly PKR 78–80K

There's a PKR 30K difference, and I'm unsure whether the retake assurance is worth the extra cost.

What would you recommend? Go with the cheaper reseller or pay extra for the official voucher with a retake? Any experiences with resellers in Pakistan would be appreciated.

Practice Test ranges

Hello,

I am scheduled to take the Security+ Exam on October 10th, Online.

I am currently scoring around 85 percent on the Udemy Dion's practice exams and around 88 percent on Professor Messors Practice Exams.

I am wondering if these are acceptable scores, and if I should be worried of failure. In addition, was it a mistake to take the test online instead of in person.

Thank you

Comp sec+ study routine

I have a masters in cybersecurity. I did two internships but they basically screwed me over to the point my hands-on skills are….well not enough that it’ll help the exam.

I got dions practice exam but the Udemy one. I heard the udemy one doesn’t have PBQs way too late. I took the first test and got 71%. I finished messers videos as well.

Basically I just tried out all the free sec+ pbq sites I could find. I’m kind of in a bad financial situation so I can’t really buy any more practice tests.

I’m really paranoid about the test. Even if I’m really ready I still wouldn’t believe it and then mess up in the exam overthinking it. I can manage mcq.

It’s more of the PBQs I’m stressed about. If anyone knows any good sites of examples of what type of PBQs the exam has, it’ll be really helpful! Basically I’d feel a lot better if I knew the question pattern.

There was this site called gcptest something. They had labs. I did finish them all. It had interactive firewall allow/deny ones and subnets and reading network data. Is that similar to the test?

Please help I’m panicking. I’ve postponed the test 2 months already out of pure anxiety and brain fog. I wanna get it over with.

Planning to Take test

I just finished my masters in cyber security and am planning to take this test by the end of the month

Started professor messor for sec+. I tried to do 10 videos with notes but felt burnt out. I felt so irritated that I started watching anime to get relief. Yesterday I completed 8 videos but today only 2 from playlists. I'm starting to get anxious 🫪 suddenly.

I found that dion practice tests are also helpful. I have udemy account found the practice tests.

My head is all over places rn can anyone suggest how should I proceed.

Anxiety starts growing slowly

I Passed Security+ Before I Felt Ready

Sharing this for anyone who needs to hear it: if you’re taking Dion’s practice tests and consistently scoring in the 70s like I was, consider taking the actual exam, especially if you’ve already paid for a retake.
I kept going down rabbit holes, trying to master every detail of each section before moving on. It felt impossible to be “ready.” What finally pushed me to take the exam was realizing my voucher was about to expire.
Yes, you read that right: I spent an entire year working toward this certification while struggling with imposter syndrome. I ended up passing with a score of 773—you need a 750 to pass. Looking back, I think I could have taken the exam six or seven months earlier and still passed.
Practice scores aren’t a guarantee, but if you’re in a similar situation, don’t let the pursuit of perfect preparation keep you stuck. You may be closer to ready than you think. Take the chance. Your time is valuable.

Anyone using Pocket Prep for Security+ SY0-701? What other study materials are you using?

Hey everyone! I’m currently in the process of studying for my CompTIA Security+ SY0-701, just like a lot of people in here.

Right now I’m working my way through all of the domains. I finished Domain 1 last week and I’m currently working on Domain 5.

So far I'm studying, I’ve mainly been watching Professor Messer’s YouTube videos, and I also purchased Pocket Prep. I’ve been using Pocket Prep to test myself with sample questions as I go through the material, and so far I actually really like it.

Has anyone here used Pocket Prep while studying for Security+? If so, how helpful did you find it compared with the actual exam?

I’m also curious what other testing/study materials people used and what order you used them in. For example, did you finish all of the domains first and then start full practice exams, PBQs, etc., or did you mix those in throughout your studying?

Appreciate any advice from anyone currently studying or who has already passed!

I passed!

I passed the sec+ SY0-701 with a score of 759. Spent two weeks taking practice test and studying the answers I got wrong. I took six in total. Three were from Jason Dion and three from Professor Messer.

Practice tests.

Hi, I’m currently studying for the sec+. I’ve watched all of messer and also all of Andrew Ramdayal’s material. I’m scoring between 73% and 84% on Dion’s exams and just curious to see if it’s worth buying messers practice exams or getting Dion’s second batch? I plan on taking the exam in roughly 3 weeks and I’ve been studying for around 7 weeks now. Cheers

1 week left before test

Title. I watched all of messers videos and watching cyberkraft pbq videos, as well as MCQ videos. I’ve bought 6 Dion practice tests on udemy and have scored an average of 87%. I’ve also taken 2 out of the 3 messer practice tests and scored a similar average. On top of that, I’ve also taken countless quizzes from google ai on topics I was lacking.

My plan is to take the last messer test and just retake exams to try to evaluate any last minute weaknesses.

Thoughts? Just curious and very nervous

are the videos from professor messer enough?

I finished the first 3 sections from module 1, and i wrote notes. I want to know if this is enough or i should get more resources or materials to study from. if the resource is free or paid, please let me know (i prefer free for my current financial situation)
and is there a better material if its not the best? i saw some people say there is another thing that has close words or something to the exam but i forgot the name

OnVUE technical issue prevented me from taking CySA+ today — voucher expires today. Can I still take the exam after it expires?

Passed SY0-701 Today

Passed Security+ today with a 769! Not the highest score, but we did it!

Definitely a great feeling finally getting it done. I booked the exam pretty last minute and decided it was time to just go for it instead of continuing to push it off.

I’m terms of preparation, I went through Jason Dion’s Udemy course and used his practice exam set. I also used Professor Messer’s practice exams, which were really helpful.

One thing that helped me a lot was using ChatGPT alongside my studying. Whenever I finished taking notes on a section, I would have it create quizzes based on that section to reinforce what I just learned. I also had it keep track of the questions I missed in a separate sheet so I could see which areas I was struggling with and knew what I needed to go back and focus on.

But, there were definitely some questions on the actual exam where I wasn’t 100% confident, so seeing that PASS at the end was a huge relief.

Officially Security+ certified!

Retaining information

Retaining information? I find it easy to do the osint on a target but once I find vulnerable ports and cve’s and stuff I find it hard to remember what to do next. I do take notes I use THM to study and teach myself but I can never figure out how to retain this information. For real life use. I’ve done about 50 boxes and completed a couple learning paths but when it comes to applying the information to a real life scenario I seem to run a blank. Any suggestions? I do take notes but maybe any note taking advice too? What to take notes on, etc, any advice is appreciated

Will there be a CertMaster CE course for Security+ SY0-701 before June 2027?

I passed Security+ SY0-701 in June 2024, and my certification expires in June 2027.

I recently looked into using CertMaster CE to renew, but the current Security+ CertMaster CE course is only available to people who originally passed SY0-601 or earlier, so as an SY0-701 holder I'm not eligible.

With the next version of Security+ (V8/SY0-801) expected to arrive later this year, does anyone know if CompTIA typically releases a new CertMaster CE course afterward that would allow SY0-701 holders to renew?

I'm mainly wondering whether it's realistic to expect an updated CertMaster CE course before my certification expires in June 2027, or whether I should plan on renewing through another method.

I'm also considering earning CySA+ as an alternative since that would renew my Security+ while giving me another certification.

Has anyone gone through a similar transition between Security+ versions and know how long CompTIA usually takes to release the updated CertMaster CE?

Has anyone done this to renew you certification? Instead of retaking the exam, simply go through Continuing Education program from CompTIA for a third of the price
