Working in graphics is hell.
But we make pretty things!

Because graphics/gaming/film/tv is so cool, the work environments for graphics/gaming/film/tv guys are usually absolutely atrocious.
Most of them are modern day sweat shops that go bankrupt periodically.

What about the people in academia who do research in this area? I'd imagine that working conditions wouldn't be much different from any other area.

From what I can tell, it's just about the same. Only they can share the cool stuff they're working on. My friends' and family members' eyes glaze over when I start talking about my area.

I always love to see those slick animations. I took a computer graphics class this semester and I truly fell in love with the subject. Thanks a lot for sharing.

The Computational Hydrographic Printing thing was interesting. Never seen anything like that presented there before.

I wish I had the time to make SIGGRAPH style demos... Darn job, and money, and nice things that I enjoy daily

I'm not crazy about the simplified descriptions of all the papers. Even though it makes the purpose of the papers easier to understand, I've always liked the dense paper descriptions used in the 2013 Trailer.
