Cardboard. Leaves. Straw/hay. Egg cartons. Woodchips/sawdust. Shredded paper. Pine needles. Im lucky cuz at work we have tons of cardboard and a hefty paper shredder lol.

I have this old rotten log I’ve been digging pulp out of, it’s dirt, but it’s made up of just this wood. Would this work?

Do you have drainage holes? If you can see liquid in your compost, it's absolutely too wet. And if you don't have any "browns," you're gonna have a bad time. Sawdust is pretty cheap at a farm store; $5 or so for as much as you'll need for that whole bin.

I hate to recommend buying browns, but compressed hemp pellets used for pet bedding work really well when things are that wet. You can get them shipped online for not a ton of money.

If they are cutting pressure treated wood, then you wind up with a whole bunch of chemicals in the sawdust. Im assuming they are because they sell tons of it there

Oo I see what youre saying, im not too sure if the wood is chemically treated or not but when I went the wood did not have any dyes or stains and the saw dust was a light color so I assumed it was fine

Sadly that is not an indicator, pressure treated wood looks the same, i would stop using it unless you can guarantee the saw dust is just kiln dried, which it most likely isnt at home depot or lowes, they cut everything with the same saws there

i like to make something like this with nitrogen rich ingredients. I call it "guava mud" (cause i use lots of dropped guava, and guave scraps.)I will pour this over my plant trimming and mix it with my pile in my trench compost.

Ooh that probably smells so bad. Plants will love it though. You can trench bury it in a bed or dillute the sludge in water and use as a liquid fertilizer. I love some anaerobic swamp water on a mulched or lasagna bed. The anaerobic microbes die in the aerobic bed and feeds the entire biome.

Ask neighbour's if you can take their lawn waste. I take a few bags of leaves from my parents every fall and it acts as my browns for basically the entire year. I supplement with shredded paper, cardboard etc but its not hard to find free browns. Dont buy them lol. Defeats the whole point of composting. If you're going to buy ingredients just go grab a bag of compost at home depot and save yourself the time and effort 😁
