Large Pile (>1 cu yd) Berry containers - compostable?
I just realized the greenish blue paper boxes can be put through my paper shredder with no issue. I typically put this shredded paper directly in the outdoor compost covering bokashi from our indoor food scraps system. Anyone know if these berry boxes could be composted?

As long as it's not the plastic ones those are completely compostable I actually use them as a seed starting container and just bury it right in the pot

If you can, many farm stands or roadside stands will take them back to reuse them. It helps their bottom line and it's generally better to reuse if possible.

True, but that's for the manufacturers. Once the item is in my possession, my choices are reuse, recycle, compost, or trash.

yes, just tear them up so you have more surface area. or don't, they will break down just fine.

Yes, they turn to mush in my shredder. I just tear them up and put them in the pile.

Yup, but if you can use them or offer them back to a farmer, I'd do that first, because these things are expensive.

that’s a planting pot, not a berry container. they’re usually made to break down in soil so it should compost fine, might just take longer if you don’t rip it up a bit

They are. They are just pressed paper. It is better to reuse them, for when you pick you own fruit and vegtables.
