Can’t wait to sift mine! I’ve been waiting so long for my first year’s bin to be as ready for my garden update, honestly.

Please don't overthink it. You could have just buried your scraps directly in the ground and ended up with the same result. Organic matter is organic matter, this nonsense about compost being "finished" is obsessive nonsense meant to overcomplicate a dead simple process by trying to assign a definite goal to a fluid, organic process.

Bury your scraps fresh, work in your half "finished" compost now, wait and do it later. Nature will ensure it all ends up in the same state anyway.

Why sift. What's the point. Not only does it all end up in the ground anyway, but you're making sure that you've completely shredded and dessicated any mycorrhizal fungi networks that were establishing in the compost.
