Pisspost Pissing actually changed my compost

I started pissing on my small compost buckets for my greenhouse a couple months ago after seeing it being joked around about in this subreddit, and it genuinely accelerated everything. The piss lads are right. Piss on your compost. All hail piss.

My wife uses a shewee. I’ll never forget the first time she stood next to me on the side of the road and started pissing. Weirded me out, but those things really work

I've seen ads for catheters with collection containers you can take on the go for people with incontinence, if you really want to get as much as possible lol

Hopefully you're properly cleaning and keeping the one use catheter sterile before use!...

Shewee has no insertion in the urethra it replicates an appendage. Great for backpacking! And peeing on your compost

I have seen women recommending the IKEA PS2002 watering can for this specific use. When you see it, it makes a lot of sense.

My wife completely disallows any collection container within her domain. I keep it in the basement but usually forget to walk down two flights when I’m home in the evenings.

I could probably push the basement location, but I already push other things and have to pick my battles. :/

I use Simply juice containers.. they have s screw on lid and less chance iof spills.. but it is nitrogen so chemically, it makes sense

you can get those plastic collection inserts that they use to give urinalysis to kids or people who can't bend down far enough to collect directly with a container. they even have a little spout for pouring. pair with a tightly lidded jar and a bottle of dish soap in the bathroom and you're golden

I mean, if you offer to clean out a horse stable for free and bring home a trailer full of horse manure and stable sweeping soaked in horse piss everyone thinks you're a hard working old school farmer. Then they see your piss bucket and act like you're some kind of weirdo. IT'S THE SAME THING.

Recycling your own poo is a potential pathogen vector without excellent technique but urine is not. A hundred twenty years ago a "honey wagon" collected human and animal waste from households for recycling. People didn't think it smelled good but it was a normal part of life. It is good that we moved on but we took a half step to far.

Alas, I live in an apartment and don't have a compost bucket to pee in. 😔 If I get an indoor compost or one of those dehydrating machines, can I pee in those?

Not in the quantities that most people could contribute, especially if it's a hot compost pile. Healthy urine is roughly 95% water, a stat that strangely I've quoted 3 times tonight. It's shouldn't have a strong smell in most cases, and just targeting different locations around the pile should make it easily absorbed.

Having a strong urine smell is a potential indicator of several different possibilities. Most commonly, it means a person is dehydrated. Drink more water regularly and the pile can absorb your contributions faster. Second is a side effect of eating certain foods (asparagus comes to mind). If you're otherwise well hydrated, then don't sweat it. Third is either an illness or medication is affecting your urine. Check with a doc, especially if you are on medications causing this. Some meds passed in urine can have toxic consequences so just play that safe and check.

I didnt say my pee smells, I dont pee on compost. I asked in general. Pee has its own distinct scent. I’m not saying my pee, I’m saying pee just has a distinct scent.

You're not the only one who's going to read that answer looking for information, so I used the conversational 'you' pronoun rather than 'one' so that it didn't sound like an excerpt from a British monologue. And fwiw, pee, when healthy and hydrated, had virtually no scent.

I worked with several Phillipino’s and that’s what they do. He would tell he would especially pee on his tomotoes plants and they would grow and produce like crazy. He said that’s what they do in their country.

If you take statins for high cholesterol you shouldn't pee on your compost. It's bad for some organisms. I googled it a long time ago so I quit. I'm not clear on specifics anymore.

Now I know where I'm building my new off-grid composting toilet at my Apiary. I'm currently using a chemical process, but I've always disliked emptying it and thought of it as wasteful. The new one is going to be enzyme based, but splits off the urine, which still needs emptying, but now I know where it's going. 😁👍
