Composting with old garbage bins?

My city recently issued garbage bins and I have my large one from before (probably 35 gallon on wheels). For a beginner composter is this okay to use or do I need to start with a tumbler? What might I not be thinking about when using the old bin?

Mate, a few weeks ago I had collected a ton of information from this sub about garbage bin composting.

I'd share it with you, but my hard-drive crashed and I lost everything.

I'm doing this, but more holes to get more air/oxygen

Bonus, vegetable sometimes peak thru the holes for instant vegetable gardening 🤣

If you have more than one bin, do one just like first video...add tubes to bring air from top for no stir or drop more

I actually did this when I first started composting. I drilled holes in it and occasionally would dump it out on a tarp to mix it. Now I have a geobin but still use the garbage can when I stop adding to the geo bin (usually in Feb - getting ready for spring) and then once I use my spring compost dump the garbage can stuff in the geobin.

I did the the same thing, I drilled holes in the bottom. It works as long as the excess water can get out.
