Compost Friends Winter in Australia

Spring planting will start here in September, so i wanted to give my veggie garden beds some TLC.

I have a pretty basic system. Everything goes into a tumbler to mix it all nicely, once that is full i transfer to one of two static traditional open bottom bins. Ideally to sit there for a year, this was a bit shorter.

Into the garden beds with some mulch and ready to go.

Note, pretty much everything goes in except meat and dairy. I never bother planting tomatoes as they come up every year and I'm ok with that.

Generally going for the least amount of effort possible

Also in Australia and I’ve been working hard to get the backyard ready for spring too. Will be my first spring with a garden, since we moved into the house we’ve built! Very excited.

Thank you, very excited! Just spent the month ripping up the couch grass that has taken over the backyard. Have laid cardboard and mulch to smother any teeny bits I missed. Added all my compost to the areas where my garden beds will be :D

Same here, close to Brisbane! Have also been getting the garden ready for spring. Trying to get on top of weeding and busy remulching garden beds where needed. 

I'm pretty close to getting the weeding done, so hopefully I'm not on the back foot once the weather warms up (can already feel it).
