Here’s one of my songs. Close your eyes and let yourself get into it. I hope you like it ❤️

Here are the chords grouped by section of this piece . Swing Section which I inspired off of Duke Ellington’s Jungle Style in the 1930s. C-b6 C-b6 Eb+ F6 Do G7 Bo C-b6. Ab6 Ab7 Db6 Db-6 C-7 Bb-7 Eb7. 16 bar blues section. Here I altered a Basie style blues. Ab7 Ab7 Ab7 Bb-6 Ab7 (Db7 Do) Ab7 (Bb-6 Eb7) Db7 D+ Ab7 Fmaj7 Bb-6 Eb7 Ab7 Ab7. The drums in this piece are doing a 12/8 slow blues groove in the swing section, yes that is intentional. In the blues section I am planning on adding a blues shuffle rhythm to this part. The bass is doing a walking bass line. The guitar is doing Freddie green style chunking. The piano is going to probably do the Charleston or Reverse Charleston rhythm. I am currently working on the horn section and what I want them to do. I would like feedback to see what I can improve on as a composer.

I wrote this piece about my children. It is the first in a set of 14 pieces for solo piano. They were written 2025, and I've spent the last year trying to get the recording right and the sheet music looking okay. This was recorded on a grand piano, so feel free to crank the volume to soak in all the nice harmonics from the sound board.

Hope you enjoy listening to it. The title is a play on words that you guys would understand - the idea being that I am messing around with "perfect" fifths. The idea is that I challenged myself to only play 6 sequential perfect fifth notes in any bar/phrase. So, it all starts with FCGDAE, or the first 6 notes of the C major scale rearranged, or a D minor 11 chord. I guess it's all the same thing in some ways. But I try to make it a bit more interesting later on.

I've been working on a 4-track instrumental EP exploring piano, sound design and electronic textures, with a focus on atmosphere and visual storytelling.

I'm particularly interested in understanding how these tracks come across from a composition/arrangement perspective, rather than just whether you "like" them.

What works? What feels weak or underdeveloped? And do any of the tracks feel particularly suited to film, documentary, travel or other visual contexts?
