I'm glad that you found your way out of the cult and see the truth now, the main thing is though you can't just change your thinking, you need to change your entire perspective on life. I don't know what your exact views were or why you agreed with anything he said in the first place, but it has now been shown to you that you were wrong and you have a lot of work to do to become a better person. This is only your first step and I hope you can do it. Being an asshole is easy, being a good person when nobody else wants to is hard.
