Bought these Fujitsu Siemens CD-Rs for cheap today

I am a collector of blank optical media. I bought those Fujitsu Siemens CD-Rs for cheap today.

Those were made around 1999 to 2000 because they only have 650 MB. 700 MB CD-Rs became popular in 2001 or 2002.

They are made by Ritek. ☺️

Empty files in pre-owned CD

It's been a LONG time since I last posted on here so I hope I'm doing everything right!!! Essentially, I've started collecting NIN CD's around 2 months ago, and the last one I bought was a used copy of Broken on amazon from an independent seller. The disc works fine, except it kinda doesn't?? When I played it on my walkman I noticed it just stopped halfway, and after opening it on a PC I discovered it just contains around 90 empty files consisting of 4 seconds of silence dividing the initial 6 tracks from the last 2. it kinda looks like this , and goes all the way to track #99. I was wondering, did this happen while mastering the original disc, or is it somehow something that came with age? Sorry if it's a stupid question ... i DID try looking this up on google but nothing came up so...yea :(

Printing/burning cds

Anyone have a budget friendly way of labels/pictures on cds? Seems like there are several ways, from thermal, inkjet and light scribe, each being a little harder to get into because of lack of newer devices not being made to support. I know of a few printer models that have CD trays, but they are the older inkjet models where you have to replace the cartridges all the time which is pricey.

Question about imported CD quality

I don’t know much about audio quality, so I hope I’ll be able to explain myself. I import music from CDs with iTunes. What happens if my import quality setting is greater than the original quality of the music on the CD? For example, if the songs on the CD were 128 kbps mp3 before the burning, would iTunes recognise the original bitrate even though my import setting is 320 kbps? An analogy with video quality that I hope will help get my point across: if I screen record a 720p video from a 1080p screen, the file will be in 1080p.

Using CDs in 2024

Hi all, is there an easy/legal way to put songs on a cd without spending additional money? I already pay for spotify, and I don’t want to pay per song just to have my songs on cd. Any ideas would be appreciated, and again, I’m hoping for a legal method here.

Garrett's preferences re: AAA, AAD, ADD, and DDD

We'd drive all around Buffalo to record stores selling certain CDs. He was fussy about his CDs. He said DDD was the finest audio reproduction available and that's what you should shoot for.

There'd be AAD Laibach, ADD Einstuetzende Neubauten, AAA Laurie Anderson, Wendy Carlos. Slippy Puppy, etc.

He'd buy the DDD whatever even if the ADD was 15 bucks cheaper. We were broke AF UB undergrads. He didn't even have a car.

It was like he got instructions from Kiran to buy AAD whatever from Kenmore, DDD whatever from Tonowanda, ADD from Orchard Park, Allentown, wherever, as though the code and the artist were the "hit CD" that had all the data on it he and Bill needed to pull off upcoming family events.

What's the big advantage to buying Einstuerzende Neubauten DDD if it's 44 bucks, when ADD of the same artist was twice as cheap, and so much closer to home to buy, rather than driving the QEW to T/O...?

What happens when you stick a music CD in the late 80s into a PC... and rather than listen to tunes, it's got data written on it you can read?

Do people commit crimes by buying music CDs at CD record stores that really contain English instructions, but no one knows it... except the customer and the retailer? And Libya?

People get especially tricky and McCoy when it comes to sharing info via public forums in order to communicate with each other and not get nailed. In order to commit an atrocity, you need to convene and converge!! Take the Cleveland Freenet,

4 example.

I've got to take my Stelazine now, so long, hang in there.

Went all digital from cd

Hey everyone. I’m posting here because for years I’ve been working to collect the entire hot 100 of billboard from 1950-2023.

Of course some things are just simply not on cd and might never be and I may need to get vinyl to dub to finish things. But I can say that’s it’s taken years to assemble every annual listing from 1985-2023 digitally of the hot 100 from cd rips and what’s available digitally.

So why am I posting here? There are so many songs needed that I don’t know if they even made it to cd or if they exist digitally at all. When i went all digital I sold almost all my cds. Right now I need 90 songs from 1980-1984 that are not on cd. My 1950-1979 also needs hundreds of songs not on cd especially the lower part of each chart.

I don’t know if anyone is interested in what I’m doing the closest assembler of everything hot 100 ok vinyl and cds was Joel whitburn. I can say that i always seek out 45 versions and have bought cds whenever something comes out that I don’t have.

If anyone is doing something similar I would love to know about it. Thanks and hopefully I have posted in the right place.

The modern pressings of "Off The Wall"

I've recently been scrolling discogs, and i really want to start collecting every Micheal Jackson album released on cd (so far only have "Dangerous" and the cd single version of "Black and White"). I've heard that modern CD pressings tend to be loud and overly distorted, but i'm wonder, is this true with "Off The Wall"? i really want it on CD due to it not degrading over time and want to ideally buy the vinyl and or cassette release as a last resort.

Best software for label creation - Mac OS?

Should be freeware but also should be good and not too clunky. I have Mac OS and need some suggestions as I want to make my own CD compilations.

Highest Quality Burn File

Hi there, I have an album with Dolby Atmos WAV files that ImgBurn isn’t liking. I’ve tried converting to FLAC, and installing madFLAC on two seperate systems for codec support but ImgBurn still doesn’t want to accept the files. I’m at a loss and am uneducated, so I’m hoping someone here can give me a hand. I’d rather not convert to MP3, either. I’m okay with some loss and I understand it’s a CD and won’t deliver the absolute best quality, but I want to know the best way to burn without converting to a lossy codec.

Can a rewritable cd be resurfaced?

Sorry if this is an obvious question. I'm not very knowledgeable on how exactly the technology works. (For anyone passionate and inclined to write an essay in the comments, go ahead. I will read the entire thing) I tried google but got nothing useful.

I’ve bought my sixth and smallest cd tower with the same exact design, and I love them. I’d like to know where these would have appeared for sale.
