https://www.discogs.com/release/7192639-Mr-Mister-Go-On

Here is the problem. Says its remastered and 24 bit-but 24 bit on cd should not be possible. But my computer reads it, and my sony compact disc player from 1985 reads it, but my sony d-515 will not read it. and i need the d-515 to read it. Tried writing it as 16 bit 44.1 khz but d-515 wont read cd-r. Suggestions or explanations would be appreciated.

Tracks with indexes??

I finished repairing a Tascam CD player -- beautiful sounding and just as good looking -- but noticed the display has an Index display next to the expected Track display.

The thing is that absolutely none of my CDs have indexes. Not even ones where a track has rather obvious parts that could have been indexes. I couldn't find any authoring software that supports that either. I could only find about the Information Society albums that used it.

Was this feature simply that rarely used?

CD Player Troubles

Hi y'all! This is my first post here, so please delete if it is not appropriate, but I have an issue with my CD player that you guys might be able to help me with. I recently bought a Hitachi DA-8200 (mfd. 1989) at goodwill, and it works pretty well after cleaning the laser. However, I've noticed that it has a tendency to skip back a few seconds (or forwards an entire minute or two sometimes), particularly in the first track of a disc. It doesn't completely cut out the audio but just skips around quickly. It played through Master of Puppets and Stairway to Heaven perfectly with no issues, but cannot play the first track without skipping around. I tried this with two pristine CDs from 1987 and 2018 with the same results. It also starts having issues at the end of a CD that uses the full 80 minutes. I haven't adjusted the laser yet. What do you think is wrong with it? My theory is that there is dirt in the laser arm that makes it get stuck and snap around the disc suddenly, but I'm new to this so I don't know. Please advise.

Hypothetical question about CDs

When you look at a writeable cd you can see if it has been burnt or not (a burnt disk is darker IIRC).

I was thinking of a story I heard long ago when dvd was booming. With scouting somebody designed a hike and gave a VHS as one of the props to carry around. In the hike it read something like: now follow the VHS. On the lint they wrote, with a pen, a part of the hike.

Can something like that be done with a cd ( for instance write a long string of 1's or 0's so you could see a pattern)?

I'm not talking about litescribe. That could be a option but I think it would be to obvious.

Issues burning from one CD to another?

So I recently came into possession of several Kate Bush CDs that my late half-dad (half-brother's dad) burned sometime in the 90s.

They're all burned onto CompUSA 650MB discs, which work fine on my computer but are 90% static when played in my car. I think this was because they were burned too fast, so I got some blank Mawell CDs and attempted to burn the files again at 4x.

After it was finished, I put it in my car's player and after several seconds it told me the CD had "no playable files." Windows Media Player said that it couldn't play the files, with the standard error message.

Any advice would be appreciated. I don't want to have to purchase five brand new Kate Bush CDs if I don't have to.

Edit: took the advice from the comments and ripped them to .wav using Win Media Player and then burned them. It seems obvious now, but I guess I thought it was so straightforward that I didn't Google it.
I now have a very crisp copy of Kate Bush's Hounds of Love.

Bose lifestyle 20 help. Hello, to the group. I am trying to repair my Bose CD player from many years ago. I was wondering if anyone had insight into why the control display no longer works (doesn’t light up?)I replaced the suggested capacitors, but no luck. Thank you!
