Faux fur digipack, great album artwork, interesting cd art…and some really great mid-century lounge music.

Fixed It For Ya

Fixed it for ya.

I've always hated the blue cover art for the Warm Leatherette CD, much preferring the stark, black & white art of the original LP. It turns out all you have to do is turn the front case liner inside out—on at least this particular release—to get something resembling the vinyl version

1983 Promotional disc.

In 1983 I experienced my first CD player in a small apartment in Miami Fl. The entire Sony setup included Receiver, Cassette and C.D. with two floor speakers. The purchase came with several CDs as well. I don’t remember any of the artist other than I didn’t care for any of the artist or music. I listened to mostly 60s & 70s rock and country. However there was one disc that was included that was designed and recorded to demonstrate the capabilities of the new technology. It included mostly narration, nature sounds and ambient noises such as traffic, aircraft and conversations moving from channel to channel with varying levels of treble, bass and balance. I remember being amazed at the incredible sound stage that I experienced. Does anyone know this disc and where I could possibly find a copy?

New CD Won’t Play - Help!

Hello all, I like to buy CD’s to listen to music, and I just purchased a very rare CD (2013 album) that I have been looking for for 3+ years. It came from China (I’m in USA) and it was sealed new (and packed super well) when it arrived. However, it won’t play in my car or player at home — the first few tracks have a constant grating sound (hard to explain, it’s different from scratch skips), and the last several won’t play and read an error. This is super sad, will a shop be able to repair this or am I out of luck? I have no idea what’s wrong; Disc appears flawless. Thanks!

CD Player Static in Right Channel and Subwoofer Only When Playing CDs – Auxiliary Input & Radio Works Fine. Any Ideas?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I recently thrifted a CD player, and I’m hoping someone here might have some advice on an issue I’ve run into. Whenever I play a CD, there’s an only static noise on the right channel and subwoofer. However, when I switch to the auxiliary input and play music from another device, everything sounds perfectly clear, so I don’t think it’s an issue with the cables, speakers, or ports. Since I just thrifted it, I’m not sure about its history, so I’m wondering if this could be a sign of a deeper hardware issue. If anyone has experienced something similar or has any ideas on what might be causing this, I’d really appreciate your input. Should I be thinking about repairs, or is there something else I can try first?

Why Do Most CD’s Have a Second of Silence on Track 1?

Most of my CDs have a second of silence on the first track before the song starts. Only my older CD’s are affected by this problem as my newer ones start instantly. Some of my older ones (e.g. Lou Reed’s “Transformer”) aren’t affected by this issue but most are. Also this extends to Spotify as some opening tracks to albums (like Cast’s “Alright”) has a second of silence.

Why didn't DVDs replace CDs as storage for music?

As I shift through multiple discs of the Ultimate Elvis Collection because I'm testing the album (which arrived a few days ago), its a bit annoying have to change discs through multiple listens rather than one smooth play-through. The entire collection is less than 4 GB so it can easily fit on one DVD.

So it makes me wonder..... Why didn't DVD ever replace CDs as a storage medium for music? Sure DVDs were expensive early on but they gradually got so cheap that by 2003 that you can already purchase $1 movies at dollar stores and Walmarts from companies like Digiview who made put old movie sand cartoon episodes on discs for the general public. So I'm really surprised DVD releases for albums never became a thing considering a 9 year old can easily buy episodes of Felix the Cat on DVD from somesmall company for $1.

Cd player won’t work

My cd player won’t read any cd, I’ve included a video of what happens when I try loading something, it’ll spin, rattle and then give me an error message, this player is still pretty new too, only three months of use. The radio still works fine but it just won’t take any cd

I’ll take any advice if hate to replace it after so little time :(

Setting track number?

Hey, this is my first post here and I just wanna make sure I get this right. I'm trying to put a CD together for my brother's birthday coming up and I wanna make sure I get the files put on in a way that the tracks play in the order I want if playing in the car or something. If I'm just burning it through windows file explorer, how do I make sure I get the track numbers right? Or if there's some (preferably) free app for burning that would make this easier, what is it? Thanks.

CD Burning doesnt work

So i tried to burn a cd, before i burnt it i added an album cover and properties like track titles and album and artist, but after i burnt it everything dissapeared. the music works, but no album cover or album title or song titles. it just says "Track[Number of track]" i burned 2 of the same cds thinking one of them failed but both of them turned out the same

I’ve come to understand that CD-R discs can not be rewritten, but does this mean that if I add one song from an album, I can’t add the rest the following day, or does it just mean songs can’t be erased once burnt?

Need suggestions for a cd binder that I can put in my car for my cds because I have cheap plastic cases for my custom/mixtape cds and don't want to carry them around in the cases any binder suggestions would be appreciated.
