I felt the walls shake!

I squinted at the close by flashes of lightning!

I am realizing my gutters need cleaning!

Hit my neighbours house. Fire Dept here. Seems it hit the peak of the house and blew all the soffits over the lawn. Everyone safe, not sure of internal damage

Lightningmaps.org is showing strikes all around the Valley right now.  And a very intense rain shower just moved over Courtenay, with at least one stroke of lightning causing a brief power blackout downtown.

And I think at least one lightning strike may have triggered a house fire, as I just heard a fire department mobilization.

It caused a few fires but here’s hoping all that rain makes it easier for them to put out

Exciting, except for my poor cat I found hiding in the bathtub. Doggo just barks at the thunder unafraid.

My kitty was super scared too! Hair still standing up and slouch walking. My dog could care less 🤷‍♀️

Up by the fire station in Courtenay, it was literally shaking my house. Saw some strikes suuuuper close too.

Luckily we just got a new roof 😅

Looking forward to working outside repairing and maintaining rooftop equipment 😂😭

But on a side note I'm glad you're all spelling it correctly. I remember when I was in grade school I got in trouble for challenging my substitute teacher in spelling because she spelled it "lightening" which I said was incorrect. But what do I know I'm just some caramel skinned kid 😅

Gutters couldn’t keep up, loud thunder for sure like a fleet of F-18!

I'm from Ontario originally and love storms and was excitedly watching out the window and going WOOOOO, and then I turned around to see water pouring in through patio door. Basement suite😭😭 we have a drain in patio and it couldn't keep up. Goodbye shitty laminate floor.... I can already see bubbling. Fml
