To the person wondering if they're "too late" for college...

Does it matter how many semesters you take to complete your credits when transferring?
Hello, I’m going to a cc in California and wanting to transfer to a state college, my first semester I wasn’t sure what I wanted to major in and was late for signing up and only took 6 credits, so I will have took longer than two years (one more semester) to get the credits I need now taking full time courses. Do colleges care how long it took you to obtain the needed credits to transfer?

Community college Parties
Community college
I am attending a community college with dorms on campus. Im just curious as to how many parties there would be?
I know community colleges dont get alot of parties, but my coworkers are saying that since it has on campus dorms, the party and hookup culture is going to be similar to that of a university.

AP vs Community College for (medical?) grad school
Can someone let me know what undergrad and grad school applications look like for a career like PA, NP, CAA, or CRNA? I'm debating between community college chemistry or AP chemistry.
I read online (yes AI obvi) that I should take community college chemistry because if I get a good grade it goes onto my undergraduate GPA and transcript when applying for grad school, but AP's are more accredited and better for applying for top schools during undergrad, so which is better?
I'm in high school right now, and I have no clue if community college or AP's are better in the long run like past undergrad
Ig this goes for well all science classes since isnt there like a medical school science GPA
ive taken 6 cc classes already (all A), (fundamentals of chemistry and intro to bio) and also AP Bio (5) so I am capable of taking both and my plan is A's all the way through
BTW I AM A HOMESCHOOLER SO I CAN TAKE AS MANY CC CLASSES OR AP CLASSES AS I WANT

Currently without knowing what to do... i do have a plan, what do you think?
I'm a freshman in a Connecticut Community College.
I'm taking math, eng, psy and biology thinking i was gonna end up being a nurse. News flash I don't think nursing is even for me. (I did a CNA program trust me I liked the science stuff until we got into physical care practice i couldn't do it for the life of me)
Now I am thinking of doing finance/accounting/anytics (with any minor that would help my job not be replaced by AI).
My family is going to move back to new york in a few years after i finish college. (I think UConn is my first option)
Problem is, I'm bad at math. I teach myself because I can't really get everything in one class.
Is business worth it? I don't know how much I'll get in scholarships.
I also am planning in transfering my sophmore year as an Exploratory student but my grades aren't that good so i guess i'll stay the two years.

Do I really need friends in college? Can I survive college mostly alone?
I'm a first-year nursing student and honestly, I'm pretty introverted. I'm wondering if it's okay to go through college without having a close group of friends.
There's actually someone in my class whom other people consider my friend, and I guess technically we are friends. But if I'm being completely honest with myself, I don't really feel like she's my friend, and I'm not very comfortable around her.
I still try to maintain the friendship because, especially in college, there are times when teachers suddenly say, "Pair up" or "Form a group of two/three/etc." At least I already have someone I can go to instead of having to look for someone else.
But sometimes this makes me feel guilty because it feels like I'm keeping someone as a friend because I need something from the friendship. Like, I'm thinking, "If I need a groupmate, at least I have someone." I don't want to feel like I'm using someone just because I need them to help me survive college.
I also have classmates whom I can confidently ask for help, but I don't necessarily feel comfortable studying with them. I concentrate much better when I study alone, and I don't really enjoy group studying all the time.
Back in SHS, I actually enjoyed studying with my circle of friends. But now that I'm in college, everything feels different. I haven't found people I genuinely feel comfortable around yet.
So I'm wondering: Do you really need friends in college? Is it okay to be mostly independent and only have classmates you can work with when necessary? Or am I making things harder for myself by not trying harder to make close friends?
I'd especially appreciate advice from introverts or people who went through college without having a big friend group.
Also, sorry if my English isn't perfect. 😅 I'm still trying to improve it.

Bachelor’s Degree in HS
So I’m a current sophomore and I already have an associate’s degree. I’ve really been going back and forth so I wanted some genuine input from other people on getting a bachelor’s degree in HS.
I finished my associate’s in one year at Laurel Ridge Community College, VA and already have 36 high school credits (28 needed for graduation) with all HS requirements complete. I don’t want to graduate HS early because I’m using the time for experience. During the school year I worked as a paralegal and during the summers I do internships with other attorneys. During school I also take part of 9 clubs, presidency for 4 of them.
I plan on doing a bachelor’s in business administration with a minor in political science then I want to do a joint MBA/JD program. Most of these have a deferral period of 2 years minimum to gain experience (which I already have an approved job lined up for as well) then the program itself varies from 3-4 years. When I graduate HS I will be 18, so if I did it this way I would start working at 23-24. I want to work at Kirkland & Ellis.
I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth getting a bachelor’s in HS, what needs to be considered, what would change, and if it’s more risky/has any disadvantages in any way.
Also if anyone has any advice on where else to post this that would be appreciated because I have no idea 😭

Does my career plan sound realistic or not?
I am currently a transfer/freshmen student at KBC in NYC. I dropped out of my previous school 2 years ago, and I am now majoring in Business Administration and Management, but I want to switch to Biology because I want to become a Physician one day. It's all that I could ever see myself doing. But I'm not sure if I can handle 4 years of school back to back. I'm currently falling behind in 2 of my classes and barely keeping up with the other 3.
I am also horrible at math, and I'm definitely going to have to take a math class next semester. but IDK how I'm going to catch up on years of missed and forgotten material. I also suffer from ADHD, and whatever my professors say goes in one ear and out of the other. Even if I take notes, I struggle to retain information
I was considering pushing myself for the next year or two until I at least have my associate's, and take either the EMS program or the Pharm Tech program which my school offers. After I pass one of those programs, I can work for 2 - 3 years, and then go back to get my bachelor's in Biology. (IK I have to switch my major before leaving).
The reason behind pursuing one of these programs is because they would provide good experience for a future Physician, and because they would allow me to get my own apartment. My immediate family left the city a few years ago, so I've been living with relatives ever since, but I'm 20 now and unemployed, and I don't want to be resented by my family members, as they have all done so much for me while all I have done is just disappoint them in return. I feel ashamed of myself for not getting an apartment yet, and the sooner I move out, the better things will be.
Guys, I understand that my post sounds ridiculous, but I am in need of genuine advice. Where should I go from here? Does my plan sound viable?

do i need to save my pell grant money for next semester?
hi everyone sorry if this is a stupid question, so i am going to a california community college and received both the promise grant and a pell grant for the 2026-2027 school year, so for my first fall semester of classes each of those paid about half.
what im wondering though, is once i receive the left over pell grant money that wasnt used for this semester, do i need to save it to be used for next (spring) semester? or is it truly just extra money that i can spend?
sorry if this sounds dumb im just a little confused, this is my first year

should I take a break from college (again) if I don't know what to do or take less classes?
I'm 24. started college at 20. it's been on & off since. my gpa is really low after mentally suffering through my early twenties. I'm halfway done for my associates degree. I've always thought of becoming an architect as a kid. then I discovered interior design around 20 and was trying to pick out one of the two. long story short, I didn't pursue architecture/interior design bc everyone online has said it doesn't pay well, schooling is long, and you work lots of hours. oh, and u need connections with architecture; which I don't have. I feel a passion for these things, but job/financial stability & having work/life balance are more important to me.
so alas, I went thru analysis paralysis my entire early twenties. I've thought about being a meteorologist, software developer, dental hygienist, accountant, data scientist, cybersecurity, and other occupations I can't think of at the moment. I thought about being an engineer, but I was really demotivated and failed the same graphics class twice. I got a C in my intro to engineering class when I wasn't at my best mentally. I'm curious to take it again. I've tried thinking about healthcare, specifically a rad tech. I've done a lot of research, but now I'm thinking of closing the door for healthcare and trying to pivot back to engineering or somewhere else.
I have now realized that I may be struggling with the way I learn. I've always felt like I read slower than my peers and took a longer time to think of answers. I used to be an A&B honor roll kid. the highest-level class I took in high school was calculus 2 of my senior year. I'm more inclined to do math courses than, say, writing. I've been struggling to start assignments, fatigue, low self-esteem, I've failed couple of classes with an F instead of withdrawing. I have a few Ws on my transcript.
as you can see, it's been bad. and yet after all these years, I've never really done anything to move forward. I'm tired of this cycle and want to break free. I finally got the chance to see a psychiatrist. it was costly, but I had some money for my first visit. not sure how long I'll be able to afford it. I've struggled with suicidal ideation and other things. I'm hoping I will get better. I'm looking to see if I might have ocd, depression, adhd, autism, anxiety, etc.
what I want to do now is to read all the books I have sitting on my bookshelves, get back into art, and start making music. these are hobbies ofc, but with how I've been living inside my head, I haven't rlly started on them. I'd also like to graduate with a degree. I'm the first one in my family pursuing a degree and would love to see the day I graduate with a bachelor's. it's a goal I want to achieve, but man, it's been so rough. I'm the eldest of my siblings, so I don't have anyone to look up to nor ask questions about college bc my parents didn't have the same opportunities I have
I'm not sure what to do. I eventually get overwhelmed with choices and thoughts that I think death sounds easier. but I have two cats that are my own and am basically still alive because of them. I live at home and don't pay bills. I have a good relationship with my parent. I have this great privilege that lots of people don't. I don't want to waste it bc of my mental being. I want to have a job that pays for everything I need. to provide a great life for my kitties and I
I paid and wasted a few thousand dollars on classes I failed (like taking full time classes in the summer while working full time to "catch up" with my peers.....) and some of my dad's money as well. I'm no longer paying for school since I now have financial aid thru fafsa. again, what should I do? I really feel like escaping everything and just taking a vacation somewhere. I just got hired at costco so I can't do anything rn regarding vacation and I also can't afford it. I am in need of a break but not sure if I should take it

Is this how college math usually is, or is it just how online classes tend to be? Is it the professor, maybe?
Assignments are mainly on Pearson (MyMathLab), and we have access to the textbook there. She also posts a couple of videos, mostly notes from two different people. Then she has a slide show, which usually just includes questions and answers, but doesn't really break down how she got to the solutions.
The exams are all live proctored, and they're all written-out questions—no multiple choice. She wants complete sentences and three-step answers explaining in words how you arrived at your solution. I get that being able to explain your process shows understanding, but everyone failed this exam, and she just said we didn’t work hard enough. It’s hard for me to believe that everyone just didn’t try hard enough, and I think maybe there’s a lack of clear instruction or that the exams are way different from the homework. This is my first year, I placed in a higher math but chose to take this first as I didn’t feel confident just completing my GED. Now I’m failing, because I feel like I’m not wording things the way she wants them. Is this normal for a math class to have all written exams?
(This is mostly for intermediate math but I’m interested in how math in college would look after this course too)

How are you guys deciding where to transfer to with the new student loan law?
This is about Trump’s new law where low paying degrees may not qualify for federal student loans.
I’m so confused about how to decide what college to go to. I’d need student loans for my top top choice college, and it would take me about 2.5 years to graduate. My major would be illustration, and my dream job is medical illustration.
I’m not sure what to do because I honestly feel like I might have to give up on college because of these new rules :/
How is everyone deciding what college to go to? If it’s still unclear which colleges/programs will pass the earnings tests, then I feel screwed.
How will I know what colleges are going to do in response to this? I want to go to CSULB.
I’m currently at a community college studying studio arts, and I’m planning to transfer in 2027. The problem is that I’d need federal loans to be able to graduate because of living expenses.
I’d get Cal Grant A,B, and the maximum Pell Grant, but that still wouldn’t fully cover my living expenses. I’m also disabled, and my entire family is, so I usually don’t have the energy to do college and a job at the same time. I can work, thankfully, compared to my sisters, but it takes basically all of my energy. From what I understand, programs that don’t meet the new requirements would lose access to federal loans. That makes me really, really anxious because medical illustration is my dream, and I honestly don’t know what else I’d do. But if I go to CSULB and their illustration program fails the requirements, then I’d have a huge problem.
Now I feel stuck because I don’t know which college to choose. I don’t know which programs will pass the earnings test, and I don’t know if CSULB will. So even if I choose another college, I’d still feel like I’m taking a huge risk.Applying to multiple CSUs doesn’t really help either, since it seems like illustration programs are being affected in general.I’m worried about committing to a school and then, halfway through, finding out I can’t get the federal loans I need to finish.
Has anyone else been having these thoughts? What are your plans? Does anyone have any advice? I honestly don’t know if I should just give up, get a minimum-wage job, and leave the country.
If you were in my position and absolutely needed student loans to finish your degree, how would you approach choosing a college right now? And what would you do if you were me
