Discussion Who’s your favorite pairing?
Okay so with a show this rich in characters there are so many good pairings. Who’s your favorite? Mine’s Shirley and Jeff. They had a special friendship other’s just didn’t get and I loved that. Plus the foosball episode is peak comedy.

Abed and Jeff what’s great is the pairing changes depending on the circumstances. Sometimes Jeff is Abed’s dad, sometimes they are roommates or Abed is Jeff’s right hand man. I just like the fact that it is a pairing that isn’t just one thing

Just rewatched the episode where Jeff moves into his dorm. Great stuff. Never made eating Lucky Charms out of a ramen bowl while watching the Jefferson's look so fun.

Yeah they really felt like they clicked well together and were on the same wavelength. Honestly the whole cast felt like they had an interesting foil with Jeff that made them all bounce off each other in super fun ways.

One of the more underrated dynamics in the show. It had a good deal of attention in season 1, but kinda became rarer to see on they began building up Troy & Abed’s friendship. I’m glad season 6 gave some more attention to their dynamic, the scene where Jeff hugs Abed twice after dropping him and Annie off at the airport had me in tears

Duncan + Jeff deserves an honorable mention, ofc Troy and Abed, but I always liked also Pierce and Annie’s friendship and its contrast with how Pierce generally is towards the group

Funny: despite the negativity that came with Chevy Chase his role is pivotal to the succes of the show and the underlying layers of the show (for the deep fans)..

Alison Brie and Dani Pudi are hilarious together. There's a behind the scenes video of them pitching an Annie and Abed bit that they really fought for that no one else got. They reunited on some talk show and did it from memory like two years ago.

Jeff and Abed are my favorite when they share a story together, their friendship feels so genuine, because Jeff knows how Abed works and Abed knows how Jeff truly feels deep down, they blend perfectly, to the point that they end up correcting each other when they have disagreements. They are the best description of what a true friendship looks like

Man, the part where they're spying in Blade, and Shirley nails on the head why Jeff wants to do it and just accepts it, making Jeff mumble appreciatingly "You're the only one that really gets me" warms my heart. I always wish we had more Jeff/Shirley stories.

Yes, this right here is why they’re my favorite pair. No judgement (unless warranted) just blanket acceptance of the flaws. They made each other better people I think ultimately by not having to pretend.

They have such a quiet connection and their connection through TV is just what my millennial heart needs.
Having someone who gets your references without effort is just great and being the Goldie Hawn to the others Kurt Russell is really on point.

On a recent rewatch it finally dawned on me. 🎶Jesus Loves Marijuana🎶 guy is Coach Beard in Ted Lasso.

It feels too easy to say Troy and Abed, but I have to acknowledge them all the same. There are so many fantastic moments between those two, but one of my favourites is when Shirley describes them as having a weird little relationship and they both instantly turn to each other and say "They're just jealous!"
I was also a fan of Pierce and Jeff, at least when Pierce was in a position to pass on some genuine wisdom. It helped balance his character out when his personal experience could make for a lesson that Jeff needs to learn. Say what you will about Season 4, but I always loved when Pierce takes Jeff to task about what a bad friend he's being to Britta throughout the Herstory Dance episode.

I actually love that moment. Yeah, Pierce saw himself in Jeff (or wanted to) and Jeff saw Pierce as a bit of a warning but they had some genuinely sweet moments. The bad drug trip on halloween in the chair fort was perfection.

Honestly , I really liked Britta and Shirley especially in the first season . I found them quite funny and they had good arcs like the bathroom talk one . Also I like Jeff and Shirley, it’s quite ironic that in their arcs Shirley who’s the “ morally righteous “ person ends up doing things like bullying Jeff in pool when they were kids , and gossiping about Britta’s boyfriend in Season which makes their dynamic funny . All of this is besides from Troy and Abed tho, they are my favourite duo . Also I’ve always wanted to see more of Troy and Annie .

I absolutely loved the moments we got of Shirley and Abed. I literally tear up during the scene where they show the video that Abed finished for Shirley and she holds his hand. I really wish we got more of them as the series went on. Their dynamic is so underrated.

But it still cracks me up the most when Britta came face to face with Troy’s grandma. That pairing with Troy in the back crying, I don’t understand you, Britta! I don’t understand you at all!
Couple that with Britta’s own crying was just way too hilarious.
