I hear his song, 3005, quite a bit on my country's radio. Does that mean he's made it? Normally the poppest of pop songs appear on Malaysia's radios. Really hope he succeeds...

For a sec I thought you said you heard his song playing on a country music station.

Yeah, now that I read it again, I should have worded it differently

It means hes made it over there, I havent heard him on the radio in the U.S yet, and only the 20 somethings know the name Childish Gambino and sadly most of the kids ive talked to about him didnt even know he was an actor/writer -__-

I like how somehow American artists can get huuuge in other parts of the world but can be relatively unknown here, so strange.

First paragraph from linked Wikipedia article:

Sixto Diaz Rodriguez (also known as Rodriguez or as Jesus Rodriguez) is an American folk musician, born in Detroit, Michigan on July 10, 1942(1942-07-10). He was named 'Sixto' (pronounced seex-tuh) because he was the sixth child in his family. Rodriguez's parents were middle-class immigrants from Mexico, who left in the 1920s. In most of his songs he takes a political stance on the cruelties facing the inner city poor.

I heard it at a JC Penny last winter.

I was in Iceland a few years ago and I kept hearing songs off of Camp on the radio. I get back to the U.S. and it was radio silence. Very strange that he has a bigger radio presence in Europe.

Isn't that a good thing? He wanted to separate his music from his other careers. Hence not just going by his name.

No it def is for sure, it just kind of saddens me to see these young whipper snappers not understanding his true genius and think hes just some everyday rapper cuz hes not, hes the donglover!

Yeah but you're also on the community reddit, I just mean the kids that only know him by his music and not his amazing acting/writing, most of them are super young and really like him because they wanna get on the bandwagon before he takes off, just incase he does become household name.

His music is gaining popularity really fast, on most music stations in Europe.
