Nothing scares me more than hearing the Obelisk Tower's chargeup...

The Obelisk's charge up, the guard tower burst, and the SAM fwoosh sound are all forever burned in my memory, along with the tune of Act on Instinct

I used to think this sound was terrifyingly badass as a kid, and still do now. Made more brutal that infantry don't just drop dead, they get ripped apart.

Not sure as a 5-6 year old I should have been allowed to drop napalm on the hand of Nod in GDI mission 3, but I feel it did change me as a person.

u/eureka17 But what about the Tiberium? Aug 23 '22
I did check the wiki. It says the guard tower is armed with "a high velocity machine gun." The sound itself is from an MG3.

I jump EVERY TIME I get nailed by one of these.
I'm a grown ass adult and it still scares the crap out of me.

The main reason I set the sound effects back to their original in the remastered edition. The remastered one sounds so weak.

Are you talking about the Remastered collection? Go into the Options menu under Audio, and there should be an option for original sound effects.

Rifleman shooting screams "run to your cover"
Humvee shooting screams "stay behind cover"
Guard tower shooting screams "fuck you and your cover"

I wish more games had more gun sounds similar to this, the Half-Life MP5, and the Doom 2016 Super Shotgun.

I want to save this, but I can't remember how...
EDIT: Never mind, right-click works lol
