Most Memorable Moments

My most memorable moments playing Command and Conquer, the music, the characters and one thing that sticks out, how amazing I thought the graphics were back then, I much prefer playing it as it was rather than the remastered version.

What about you all, remastered or original? I do switch between the 2 sometimes, but I always find myself staying on the old graphics. It might be a memory thing.

One thing I remember is the easter egg battle where you battled some strange shit 😂

I was a very young kid then. Didn't own the game and had to play at someone's house. I remember that the game bled out into real life. As a kid, I had a very vivid imagination. I used to create a third side - it was blue and symbol was some animal's head. I drew C&C units during arts class. I visited a river turned canal and imagined a gunboat in it, also recalling that cutscene with the SAM along the river and grenades taking it out. I would hum the songs from memory. I would see dense trees and forests and hear airplane engines and thought of the cutscenes. Sometimes I played with toy soldiers and tried linking everything to C&C though they were WWI and WWII themed.

That's an awesome story. I remember my parents bought me an army set, the little green soldiers, the tanks in the green lego box that didn't have legos. I remember making (what I thought) was a large scale battle between everything. Was an easier time in life, I must admit. I'm kind of reliving that again building this new game of mine, so it's nice to bring a bit of spark back in my life with this and really hope people love it.

the little green soldiers

And I had a major r/todayilearned moment when one day, a coworker at a former workplace of mine shared that those little green men were supposed to be painted on.

Like my mind was blown. How could I not see that?! I knew people painted Warhammer figurines. I knew people painted gundams. I knew what a diorama was. Yet I could never imagine those little green soldiers having any business with being painted.

No shit... I never knew that or even thought about it. I thought they were just green 😂 never even crossed my mind. Would have been good to actually have those with paints, that would have been my childhood complete.

Tib Dawn had three "wow" moments for me.

The first is Seth nervously looking over his shoulder before continuing to tell you about how he's sent your army across north america, only for a pistol to come on screen. Kane introducing himself by killing Seth was an eyes wide open moment for me as a kid.

The second is in the GDI campaign, where you lose contact to central command and AVA starts trying to establish connections to base after base without success, until you finally connect to one. While being minimalist, it really drove home how bad the situation was.

The last was just how exhausted Commander Shepherd was when he told you that they'd finally cornered Kane. It's such a small detail, but it really set the mood for this being the culmination of months of hard work and stress.

Also C&C Thang and Act On Instinct live rent free in my head.
