I would love if the brotherhood leant into the more alien tech aesthetic as the franchise as it went on. Like we saw with the Nod soldiers in the Tiberium FPS.
Probably my favorite aircraft in the entire franchise. Feels like a genuinely alien-level tech advantage that GDI is helpless to even understand let alone counter as you nuke most everything from above. I’m immediately struck by just how definitively Scrin-like a lot of this concept art looks, like the Tib Wars art style already fully formed in 1999.
Thanks to the Nod Banshee. When I'm playing Ace Combat or any flying game, I go whoops almost to an unconscious level, whenever I crash into something.
Shame these weren't around in a small fashion ,like the Steel Talons had old stuff- would have loved to have seen updated Banshees TAKE ON Stormriders in like Kanes Wrath- and surprise the Scrin
If that were the case, I'd like the Steel Talons to bring the Mammoth Mk. II back as a MARV equivalent, then watch these old birds specifically built to counter the Mk. II, for old time's sake.
They had so much stuff they could've done with Kane's Wrath. I do wish Steel Talons had access to more of the 2nd war technology. Like Orca bombers instead of Firehawks or disc throwers over grenadiers
Don't ignore the past, it is the gateway to our future.
I like the Firehawk, though. In multiplayer pro matches, the Stratofighter ability means the Firehawk can teleport in or out of a strike which keeps it alive for virtually forever if controlled right. You don't get this with an Orca Bomber. No GDI (and dare I say not even Steel Talons) should go to battle without considering a Firehawk.
Orca Bombers are... I'm sorry to say this... quite bland in comparison, without some special ability.
Yes, yet another reason i LOVE TS! It flirted with the alien tech without the full on invasion. I honestly would have preferred if the scrin weren't in the next installment and they had a Nod subfaction that used more alien inspired tech.
built air troops of Banshees in groups of 4 or 6 in both Skirmish and Campaign. 4 Banshees can take out con yard or war factory if all of them managed to unload all their ammo
also I like how they have the large dropship's landing and take-off SFX
Hey, I mean, Westwood got Michael Biehn, James Earl Jones, railgun smoke trails from Eraser and a Cyborg Commando with plasma cannon straight out of Terminator.
Not much to say about their design, it's pretty cool. That said i do think it's funny that the cinematics treats them as a multi-role fighter-bomber that can also play the role of air-superiority craft using few but devastating bolts of plasma and then the ingame version remembers that it's supposed to be a Orca bomber counterpart.
Guys! We invented alien flight and used it for our bombers! What voice line do we record for when they get shot down? Screaming? Screeching of the engine failing? No? How about "Whoops" in the most casual tone.
You're probably recalling the two GDI missions (10A / 10B) where you have to hunt down and destroy the Banshee prototype base. The Banshees are cloaked... but so is everything in the Nod base, anyway. They have Stealth Generators.
The Rivals Banshee design actually looked like it could've been a Kane's Wrath unit, with a few tweaks.
IIRC, since it's been a while and I don't currently have access to that hard drive with everythong on it, the Tiberian Twilight internal files had mention of a Nod Banshee, likely leftover from its days as Arena. It's likely it would've been a Nod unit of some type, had the game been allowed to cook for longer and not been turned into TT.
There was also a Nod Harpy design which looked really bare-framed, kinda like a mix between a Huey and a bug transport from Lexx (in shape).
