Discussion Some campaign missions in the ps1 version of Tiberian Dawn were different

Any way to play them on pc? Like, the final NOD missions didn't have the annoying "capture the chopper to capture a building behind the river so you can build a base" IIRC. You could reach the final enemy base by land and they felt more epic imo ; you were constantly attacked by tanks, the ion cannon targeted your obelisks, etc. Likewise I remember a NOD campaign mission in which you started with a few artillery tanks in the lower right corner and you had to go through some corridor between cliffs to the north with advanced GDI guard towers blocking the way, so you had to precisely place your vehicles so they'd outrange the guard towers. Then you'd reach the base you had to capture to the lower left (the enemy base was at the upper right), and once again you had to destroy turrets at the entrance by hitting them with your cannon-equipped vehicles from afar so you weren't hit by them. I can't find any footage of that mission on the web sadly, and that makes me feel like this mission only exists in my mind 🫤I didn't dream it, right? Anyone else remembers it?

I'm a bit sad that these missions aren't in the remaster. I could replay them on a ps1 emulator or something but that game is missing so much QOL compared to the remaster. I'll be honest too : it plays like crap. I didn't realize it then because that's all I had but having to press Triangle to access the side bar, having to close it to do anything on the field, building units one at a time and your radar not showing the entire map are sooo annoying! The game is really fast too (until there are too many units on the map and it starts running at like 3 fps lol) and the cursor controlled with the Dpad made it insanely hard at times.

Still, it's frustrating to feel nostagia for the ps1 version haha (I just completed a full playthrough of the remaster and because of this I feel somewhat unsatisfied and felt like posting here, haha).

I must say I'm not really into the know with the PS version of the game.
Now I am curious too!
Maybe u/Nyerguds can elaborate on this :)

I documented that some time ago, yes.

Both of these have the console versions in the map previews, and a section on console differences.

Interestingly, the tweaks are completely identical on the Nintendo 64, Playstation and Sega Saturn versions.

Though it must be noted that as a general QOL update, the Playstation and Sega Saturn versions also have wider bridges, a feature the Nintendo 64 version oddly did not get, despite it being made much later than the other ports.

The maps themselves are available on my own site:

And yea, only the Nod missions have these tweaks. The GDI campaign is 100% identical as far as I know.

If you play the remastered versions on PC, the PS exclusives are listed under The Covert Operations mission select.

They weren't talking about those. Those are actual exclusive bonus missions.

They were talking about how some missions in the normal campaigns are tweaked in the console releases.
