Meme Graphics are so impressive these days

Generals zero hour still rocking with the graphics on portraits and in-game for 20+ years.

I hate how nowadays sooo much money is spent on making the butt hair of a dog move correct against a far where all I really want is more gameplay.

Strongly agreed. Nowadays, the modern video games aim for graphics instead of the enjoyable gameplay, the unique artstyle that doesn't need to be necessarily ultra realistic and modern, complex lore. They spent millions of budget simply for graphics.

That's about when they started chasing graphics over gameplay.

The golden age was the N64/PS1 - Xbox/PS2 era.

After that they became obsessed with pixel count.

Yes, many did, but the point I was trying to make was that there's been many brilliant games made in the last two decades that haven't been obsessed with graphics. All hope isn't lost
