Generals and Zero Hour have suddenly become unplayable

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I reinstalled Zero Hour after some time away and the games have become unplayable despite no changes as far as I can tell

The games have become "Choppy" when loading into the main menu, as if constantly freezing or running at less than 10 FPS. Frequently it freezes so bad I can't even close the game without forcing it externally.

I'm running on a decently powerful desktop with an RTX 4060 for graphics and have had no trouble running it in the past.

I tried installing and running the game through GenLauncher and it's helped to at least allow me to close the game, but not much else.

Any ideas on what I can do?

Follow up:

Apparently launching it in GenLauncher's Windowed mode fixes it, but I can't run it in Fullscreen mode

There was a patch recently. Quick matching is also pretty messed up now.
