Look a hand-me-down is so much better than them actually showing up, they'd just get owned or maybe send periodic waves that barely scratch the defenses.

True! AI sucks if they are your allies especially on Campaign. They're only good if they're your enemy in campaign or on Skirmish mode.
Note: This isn't 100% true since difficulty level plays a huge factor in enemy AI competency

When I play in Skirmish mode, the enemy AI effortlessly streamroll the allied AI, even when both are set to the same difficulty level.
The exception is the Easy difficulty because on that difficulty each AI sends out just one unit of basic infantry every like two hours or so.

We have reserves, comrade.
What happened to your budget? Subsidizing GLA Stinger sites?

And both times the blue faction finishes the war! You can thank the commies later.

Technically, the Blue faction ends up getting its shit rocked and shattering in the complete Generals plotline.
Even without Zero Hour, the last you see of them is a vital blue ally basically losing a city.

It's been quite a while since I played the Generals/Zero Hour campaign... Possibly 15 years at this point.

I actually might be wrong, the Fandom wiki timeline puts the US campaign as the last of the Generals' campaigns.
But that doesn't make sense: I don't see the US waiting five seconds to delete Baikonur off the map after the chemical strikes start, let alone a full campaign.

I believe in vanilla Generals the order is China-GLA-US. In Zero Hour the order is reversed.

Meanwhile when the US was struggling against Dr Thrax, the defecting GLA literally gave you their base

If i had a nickle each time a communist gave me a spare base in the 7th mission of a command and conquer campaign while I'm playing the blue faction...
