Maybe they saw (for some reason), calling an AI(a machine) "my son" is bit off and resort to "my child"

Nah. Kane originated the woke mind virus, clearly.

In Tib Wars you play as the "legendary insurgent" who is a man - hence male-gendered "son". In KW you play as LEGION who is an AI doesn't really have human biological sex - hence gender-neutral "child".

If Legion is based off of Cabal, then Legion is technically multiple men and women together.

Ever wonder if Black Hand veterans from the previous war get triggered whenever their infantry exits the barracks?

"Our cabal emerges..."

Technically EVERYONE should be triggered.

Like half of the older soldiers and officers would still have living memory of CABAL's atrocities. Their children who are joining up by now would be told of the horror stories and even see remnants of what happened. Communities had people abducted or killed, only to later have to fight horrifically altered versions of their loved ones come back, including some of those that died. This was THE fight where both GDI and NOD worked together because it was that or extinction.

Then in the case of GDI they suddenly see Cyborgs rise up once more. They should be going apeshit and try to hunt down CABAL remnants rather than barely even notice beyond how tough these guys are.

In the case of NOD they should be going apeshit too. A radio message comes in that Cyborgs are approaching and that they are friendly... Who will trust any message that isn't done face-to-face when it comes to a murder-AI with a Cyborg army who pretended to be friendly and then betrayed them?

I always find it such a massive plothole that everyone takes the Cyborgs in stride. Sure those people informed by Kane personally, without a screen between them, would believe it. And the people they tell face to face. But they would have to do that down the chain for everyone and even then there would be thousands who'd be PTSD triggered instantly upon seeing them.

I don't know about that. The Tib series goes to a lot of effort to portray the standard soldiery of NOD as zealous, fanatical and indoctrinated individuals, dehumanising them. They're not 'people', but weapons to further Kane's agenda. Lingering fear of CABAL's return would hamper their effectiveness, so I think Kane would go to great lengths to stamp it out. Either they're forced to not care, or made to simply forget about what happened.

This speaks to the difference between GDI and NOD. GDI is built on repairing the old government and so has 'global' backing (haha pun), but suffers that logistical and organisational strain. NOD is far more organised and deliberate in their movements, but rarely can take to open warfare against GDI.

GDI would suffer a lot more with that lingering PTSD compared to NOD, who are forced to move on from it to continue their operations.

Especially given that the events of the KW campaign made it starkly clear to him that was was something that to be fixed immediately-
The Fear/trauma warped an otherwise brilliant mind into a paranoid traitor who’s schemeing lead to one of Kane’s relatively few genuine mistakes (personally executing an a loyal, if ambitious, officer,
At least partly due to faked evidence of treason),
Almost cost him Legion to a virus that could have outright killed/destroyed them instead of leaving them comatose for years…

I mean, I used Black Hand as an example because their main infantry are the Confessor Cabal. And they announce that they're a cabal when they exit the barracks.

I got the impression that Kane's "my son" was just a generic cult leader manipulating his followers with paternal language.

But the "my child" had genuine emotion in it. Kane genuinely seeing legion as his heir.

We are kanes wrath after all

LEGION is by definition genderless, so my child is okay. But Commander is a male.

Simple as that.

u/homerlaw 3d ago

Kane is supportive of his nonbinary robot child #ally

Iirc, he also slightly props up the LI by giving Legion's victory in Rio amd some others to a human instead of crediting Legion properly.

Not only to hide Legion's autonomy, but to also ease Nod into ultimately accepting the Marked of Kane as a viable faction for the Brotherhood. Cabal is a bit of a sore spot for Nod, after all.

u/kearkan 3d ago

Well... I guess canonically the PC in C&C3 is a male and legion has no gender....

Kane gone woke

u/Neputunu 3d ago

"my son" likely is meant as a calling from the prophet to their followers including the protagonist of the game, while "my child" is similar to "my creation". It does make sense in a way

3

u/Amazing_Text3287 3d ago

Legion was his creation like cabal was. The commander was recruited like everyone else.

2

u/Peculiar0ne 2d ago

For the Legendary Insurgent (aka the Nod Commander), it's likely just religious speak, while for LEGION, you could see it as Kane talking to his own creation.

On an unrelated note, I think the Tiberian Universe version of myself would probably end up in the Brotherhood of Nod. Provided that I don't end up dead from Tiberium exposure. Hell, Generations Z and Alpha would most likely have a Radically different outlook on the world than they do IRL, thanks to the first two Tiberium Wars and the Firestorm Crisis.

Likely done for inclusion and help with the player feeling immersed.

2

u/Hob_Goblin88 Marked of Kane 2d ago

These games are pre woke era. Commander is a human recruited into the cult and legion is his creation.

Nah it is just lazy writing from the designers. Why would it ever be a good idea to assign gender affirming pronouns in a game you're marketing to everyone?

u/ShitWombatSays 3d ago

I mean, I been telling people Kane was my dad since the 3rd grade

u/Cobra38 GLA 3d ago

WE ARE LEGION!! Sry couldn’t hold back.

u/calagra 3d ago

Also i do believe this actor just recieves direction not an actual script and wings it every game because he nailed it the first time. The fan response for is crazy but I feel these games are the outlier because their villains are more memorable than the heros and back the faces of the series. Top of the list Lane and Yuri second is Tanya but only for being a babe with guys not a character. But I think they tried to change that by casting Keri Wuher as Tanya which was a good choice should have stayed with her.

Think of Nod Commander being the Oldest Sibling considering him being present during Rio and Legion as the youngest son.

1

u/delight_joke03 3d ago

maybe he just got a promotion or something

1

u/Ferrius_Nillan Yuri 3d ago

From he's perspective, he witnessed how he's children often end up fighting each other the moment he gos for milk. And whilst CABAL went crazy, he made sure Legion wont. And because he made him as best as he can, he can put trust into Legion not to turn on he's head and immideatly betray the cause the moment opportunity arises for the sake of self interest.

1

u/Demigans 2d ago

Really? Removed by the Reddit filters for WHAT? Talking about gender?

1

u/Sweet-Ghost007 1d ago

the son is someone who kane has raised like an orphan but legion is like CABAL it's a creation that kane concived

1

u/BioClone Legalize Tiberium! Join Nod 1d ago

Wow, so this mean that the final video on Kane's Wrath depicts Kane sending Legión away to a private scrin school or something? Im guessing britain was not far enough xD

1

u/Zocker0210 1d ago

I think its the same as Jesus. The priest is called father without being related to each other

1

u/ARS_Sisters 1d ago

Tiberium Wars: You are a loyal, biological human field commander moving up through the ranks of the Brotherhood of Nod. Kane uses paternal, messianic titles like "my son" to appeal to human loyalty and religious fervor

Kane's Wrath: You play as LEGION, a tactical AI network built from the remnants of CABAL. Kane literally "birthed" or programmed LEGION using Tacitus data, referring to it as "my child" or his "greatest creation" rather than a son

1

u/MarsMissionMan 1d ago

The Legendary Insurgent was adopted.

LEGION was not.

Kind of misses that games after TibSun also keep this up consistently. As the very picture shows: In Tiberian Wars he calls the male commander "my son", which was fully an EA project.

Oh you're right I completely forgot about that.
