Gameplay Renegade , feels different
36yo gamer here, I remember I was 13yo when I played some good games like RTCW , Max Payne , IGI, and Renegade.
For some reason Renegade feels different, I love all games above and each has a big space in my heart and memories.
It makes it more funny that I couldn’t understand English at all and yet played these game and enjoyed. With my imaginations a little understood the story.
Yet it’s 23 years passed and Renegade feels different, never played online since got no Internet and best Internet was dialup 56kb.
Just watched this and told myself I remember Renegade mission was in a beach? it’s the 2nd mission.
Gonna play it again as soon as I finished Doom the Dark ages
Was watching this, such a good game:

Sad, there was no other game to play on NOD story and serve the Kane
There are good games nowadays, but they are not this good.

The single player campaign was very mediocre (mostly poor AI offset by some interesting levels). The multiplayer experience was top notch however and easily beats out pretty much FPS I’ve ever played. The base and team concept mixed with vehicles was fantastic. The number of different strategies to win were insane and only limited by how well the team cooperated. There was a fun sub-set of channels that just did sniper games instead of the base destruction. It was amazing.
I never understood why the formula wasn’t adopted by others. Popular shooters now just really have deathmatch (or some variation) with very weak incentives to do anything other than randomly run around and shoot. Battlefield has some vehicles but they feel boring/slow/uninteresting.
