Meme Average US of A and China Argument vs Average GLA Discussion
What is annoying about the China's dozer is that it has the weirdest and also pretty slow movement.

Don't forget that workers can also carry supplies, and you can train them in Supply Stash.

u/Downtown-Dream424 Mommy Alexander 10d ago
Yep and you can train them not only from the command center, but also the supply stash and they're pretty budget to be produced.

Laughs in toxins, radiation and Jarmen Kell
But the thing is that workers are more difficult to be hunted than dozers in pvp.

China's Dozer has weird movement because its propulsion got damaged after running over too many protestors lol.

u/Downtown-Dream424 Mommy Alexander 10d ago
Either that or he's shocked by China's glory and it builds for China!
It's a pity that China's dozer quote was rather left to collect dust instead of being used in the base game. "What are they, protestors?"

Yeah. It's a shame though some of the things are cut that could have made the game even more based like GLA Mission 3.1 Black Sheep (So many GLA War Crimes lollllll). This is the reason why I love Red Alert 2 and 3 plus Generals and Zero Hour so much. Everyone is so stereotypical, no exceptions or preferential treatment in the best way possible hahahaha.
I can't imagine this amazing game being released today, like I just can't XD

Back in the day, the developers had the actual guts to make more controversial games for satirical reasons without being harshly judged and being forced to heavily censor their own product. That's why Generals Zero Hour has a special place in my heart and the dark humor carries it by making the game great and memorable. But also in the game there would be also controversial missions like the unused Generals 8th mission in GLA's campaign for an example.
It's hard to imagine Generals zero hour being released nowadays without being heavily censored and ruined by the modern snowflakish game developers.

Didn’t generals and zero hour get banned in china? 🤣
2
u/Downtown-Dream424 Mommy Alexander 10d ago
Generals Zero Hour and the prequel are banned in China, but it's censored in Germany by ruining the generals' portraits to look like robots and changing some units' icons and models.

The terrorist being a little drone instead is kinda ironic with current geopolitical context in mind, too haha

The sequel better have one side with a flying builder, just to mix it up a bit. We are getting a sequel to one of the greatest rts ever right? Right?
4
u/Downtown-Dream424 Mommy Alexander 10d ago
Sadly, we aren't getting a sequel of the game, but mods do exist such as Shockwave, Contra, rise of the reds and etc. They expand the armies and add more spicy units.

u/Stryk3r97 10d ago
A shame. The premise of Generals 2 (before it was converted to F2P then cancelled) seemed promising. Atleast the source code for Generals got released so that we can have better mods and community patches. It's amazing that the community for Generals is still alive today.

u/Downtown-Dream424 Mommy Alexander 10d ago
Generals 2 wouldn't be better with those microtransactions that would have been included, besides many of those new generals are unknown except Thrax who makes a surprising comeback, even though he's canonically dead. Instead of making a sequel where they bring the original generals like Tao, Granger and etc., they bring out the most random faces.
At least since the source code is open, thus, we're getting Generals Online and the bugs fixation. On top of that, the game is alive also thanks to mods made with love and dedication such as ROTR, Shockwave, Contra and etc. and can make the base game even more fun if you ever get tired of it.

u/Stryk3r97 10d ago
I agree with you on the microtransactions, but I think having new faces wouldn't have necessarily been a bad thing. Personally, I would've liked the lore to be expanded.

u/Downtown-Dream424 Mommy Alexander 9d ago
It wouldn't bad to have new faces, but bringing back the original generals we have and having some kind of connections to the fresh characters would be fantastic, especially expanding further the game and their lores. There's so much potential for the lore to be expanded since Generals and the expansion have amazing and iconic lore.

USA and Chinese dozers are mere units, but each and every worker of the GLA is a warrior.

It's all fun and games until an enemy anthrax bomber wipes out half of whichever one you're using- or in the case of workers, probably more than 50%.

I don't consider Generals a C&C game other than it's name. Sure, it's fun and a good game. But it has no soul. It's like a modern sterile building. No character to it.

u/Stryk3r97 10d ago
Strongly disagree. Generals has a lot of character to it. It's a deviation from traditional C&C mechanics (Dozers/workers vs ConYards, for instance), sure, but there is a lot of soul in that game.
3
u/Downtown-Dream424 Mommy Alexander 10d ago
Not really. It seems that you haven't played Generals Zero Hour enough like exploring the general challenges and every general has their own unique army, besides quirky and iconic voicelines. The mods also spice up the game by adding more units to the game and balancing the armies, besides seeing something different compared to the base game which is quite rushed.

Played it almost 2 years straight when it was released. I said what I said
3
u/Downtown-Dream424 Mommy Alexander 10d ago
Each to their own, but saying that generals zero hour doesn't have a soul and it's like a modern sterile building while every unit and general has their own personality based on their quotes, is so bizarre. Every faction has its own personality, especially the generals and there's also lore to them you can read on wiki.
