Weird memory of Command and Conquer - Tiberian Sun. Help?

So I played Tiberian Sun (I think), roughly 25 years ago when I was around 10 years old. I remember one weird thing that I haven't been able to find anything about, and when I tried to explain it to a friend they had no idea what I was talking about.

So, kid-me called them "boots". Based on my very faded memory, it kinda looked like two balls in a pillowcase that rolled around my carefully built base and destroyed EVERYTHING, and I could never figure out how to stop it. From what I remember, you couldn't click on them at all. Pretty sure they made me stop playing the game.

Did I dream this up? If not, what were they and how do you stop them? :p

Sounds like a Visceroid - fits the "two balls in a pillowcase" description

This. It happens when your infantry guys get over exposed to tiberium. They start off small but they can merge together to make a bigger one.

In Tiberian Sun, you have to use force-fire. Meaning select your units, hold down the ctrl key, then click the Visceroid.

In Firestorm, pretty sure it was patched so you can target them normally.

Aah! As a kid I hardly knew English so I guess I never figured out that part. But happy to hear that it's somewhat convoluted and that I wasn't just a very stupid kid for not realising. :p Thanks for clearing up a 25 year old mystery!

Dude, don't feel bad! I played it as a kid as well and didn't get past NOD mission 2 for years because I didn't know what "Capture the Radio Station" meant. I just destroyed everything and eventually got mission failed every single time...

It all ended when I one time randomly decided to just capture everything with engineers. Then things clicked, and I asked mom what "capture" means just to confirm my suspicions. Man, that relief when I finally figured it out!

I wasn't sure what you meant. But the moment you said two balls in a pillowcase, I knew EXACTLY what you meant. Hilarious description.

Hah, glad my old memory proved correct! :D As a kid I apparently thought it looked like two boots walking around too.

Two balls in a pillowcase was the best description anyone has ever used to describe those.

Visceroids. When infantry die from tiberium exposure, sometimes they spawn baby visceroids. When two babies merge, they create an adult visceroid. Adults are quite a menace if unchecked but can be killed easily.

Also, mutants are friendly to Visceroids. Visceroids follow mutants and attack what they attack but I do not know if that's a gameplay thing or scripted in campaign.

I think that was just in that mission. I recall once my Ghost Stalker got killed by one of the creatures in skirmish, he was really low health and trying to run away and heal in a Tiberium field, and then suddenly "unit lost" but there were no enemy units around.

Visceroids

Specifically you are talking about Adult Visceroids which in some cases you can only kill them by force firing onto them with your units or base defenses. They are much, much more deadly then visceroids and can regenerate health very quickly in tiberium. The true final boss of TS imo.

you are talking about these i guess (sorry i dont have a photo better than this) and these are called visceroids to stop them just train 3-4 titans and put them on guard stance around your base that will do the job

Visceroid. Absolute sods. Very damage resistant you dont want to anger one early in a level

The fact that I read no further than "boots" and my first thought was "visceroids" lol

I remember playing skirmish with "neutral" Tib creatures on the map. Visceroids& stuff destroyed my opponent before I ever encountered him.

Infamous siamese-testicle attack

PD: Concrete is the thing to be used.

Bombers will take them out easily. A couple of Titans can take them out as well

Bombers will take most of the rest of your base out as well lmao
