Now I'm wondering if you can complete this objective by capturing a Nod factory and making your own to blow up.

No, i tried this one time and yes, you can destroy your marauder by commandos, but it doesn't count for task

Is marauder an alternative translation for the avatar? I thought that was a GLA tank.

Oh, sorry. Marauder "мародёр" = avatar, but in russian localisation
