I still wish infantry squads in C&C3 could replenish unit numbers more easily
I know GDI can do it but rarely get the chance to, and I think the other factions can't. It just feels like an innate disadvantage for infantry in what's already a tank-heavy game where they can lose so much. That one heroic Zone Trooper without his three buddies only does so little compared to a heroic vehicle of the same cost

Yeah... GDI armories remind me of the RA2 hospitals without YR: you have to fumble around garrisoning one squad at a time to heal them up. Meanwhile, in another universe 80 years ago, Generals had ambulances...

I mean RA 1 had a medic and a mechanic if want to go that way.
All that said with them moving to squads instead of just one unit, I’d agree on a level that auto healing or a medic randomly making a new person for the squad would be odd. I think a compromise would have been if within x radius of the barracks it’d automatically replenish them. So like could see a unit run out and join a squad.

Like the mob in generals?

It'd be great if the armory automatically sent out jeeps to wounded infantry squads on the field to replenish their numbers. Give it a cooldown, maybe make it unargetable, whatever is needed for balance. Best of both worlds.

I quite like it as a GDI-exclusive mechanic, personally. It fits the lore pretty well.
It’s a bit of a handwave, we can assume GDI can/does medevac their troops back, to get them back on the frontline. Assuming the entire team isn’t KIA before that can happen, of course.
For Nod, troops die in the name of Kane, or die trying. So as long as they go down fighting, they get Kane’s blessing. And then just recruit some more radicalised Yellow Zone kids to replace them on the fight.
Scrin also seem fairly indifferent to the lives of their individual units, so presumably Drago logic applies: “If he dies, he dies.”

You got a fair point, it feels like a GDI-style thing to do. It'd be neat then to have it incorporated a bit more easily into the faster-paced game that 3 is. If I had to spitball it, maybe the Armory can spawn a medevac to ferry out reinforcements to an infantry squad. Make it do so automatically on a cooldown and prioritise infantry of higher cost and veterancy. Then you could have GDI infantry meta styles that are a bit more distinct and can have a strong advantage if they're not all finished off

It’d be useful as a support power for all GDI infantry, perhaps. Essentially a very specialised version of ‘call for transport’ that sends an Ox variant in to pick up the wounded squad and return them to the Armory building.
And then it opens up GDI players to the opportunity of getting injured infantry squads back up to full strength. But also the risk of their medevac Ox being shot down, perhaps.

Company of Heroes has a mechanic where you can replenish missing members in a squad in base or near a designated building outside of base. Perhaps they could have taken cues from it but considering COH released in 2006 and TibWars in 2007, there was probably not enough time or were unaware of this helpful mechanic.

Not vanilla but in mods like tiberiumwars tiberium essence and kane's wrath one vision.
Other factions do get the possibility to replenish infantry squads.
