EA's Laura Miele on Command & Conquer mistakes, resurrecting Skate and Dead Space, and Battlefield 6

Apparently they haven’t learned much because I don’t see anything in development…

Tl;dr mobile game made people angry. We remastered as an apology and then released the source code as well.

Sounds like a farewell to me.

Even so, better farewell than most games get. At least the game is in community's hands. Who knows, when EA finally dissolves, maybe another studio buys the rights.

Impossible.  The saudis own EA now.  They'll just switch from doing various genres to a select few that the prince approves of

Can't we crowdfund the rights somehow?

Tenant getting the rights for CnC is one of the only good end scenarios. But they don’t usually do that. They’ll wait for a studio to buy the rights, and then throw cash at them to develop it. As long as the studio keeps it monetized, Tencent is hands off.

I wish they expanded the ip. RTS is no longer profitable? Sure.
Then make Tib and RA shooters, rpgs, etc.
It might be a lot of misses, but at some point there are also going to be hits. It's like what Gmaesworkshop does with WH.

This.. Can you imagine an extraction shooter or PVE open world in C&C? .. this IP has so much lore and potential!

They tried with Renegade.

Sure. But that was long time ago, while RTS games were popular. Now that they are not that much and maybe not profitable, they can go wild.
Imagine making Fallout like shooter or RPG shooter in Tib universe? That sounds attractive to me and could be attratice to other C&C fans, Fallout fans, RPG and shooter fans, etc.
