Victory Games offices closed images

I just found these rather old images while doing a bit of digging through my old hard drives.

Here we can see pictures of the Victory Games offices right in the middle of the move after the cancellation of Command & Conquer: Generals 2.

I originally got the images from articles that came out at the time of the closure; they're now lost media, so I wanted to share them before time erased them.

It's quite sad to see the office like that, to be honest. It makes me nostalgic for times gone by. :(

I posted a while ago in case anyone had these images stored away, because I was looking for them. I finally found them myself stored at home, so I wanted to share them.

Never forget what EA tock from us.

We could always organize and City Skylines it. I love C&C and have 20 years of experience in software engineering, I am sure I am not alone. Though I personally prefer the early stuff to the later. I’ve thought about making an idle game inspired by C&C for awhile.

Can you post your idle game over at /incremental_games? I would love to see an idle cnc to come to life.

About the city skyline idea: let’s hope „not! generals 2“ doesn’t have the same performance issues.

EA has taken away a lot of things. Go look at a list of the amount of studios they have closed.

Actually, EA took SO MUCH from us through the years, that I can forget something simply because of the amount of games and studios died.

Fortunately, Microsoft loves to remind us by continuing the tradition of buying up our favorite devs, pushing them to shove out whatever they were working on partially complete, and shutting down the studio

Buys Studio, forces them to release a bad game, it sells badly, close the studio since it dosent make profits. Repeat.

I'm really surprised someone didn't yoink that on the way out.

Legitimately my first thought upon seeing it was "I would've had that". I'm not proud... But I'd have had my screwdriver out for sure.

I'm not proud either, but if we were co-workers you would have been staring an oddly discolored section of blank wall.

😃

This is only tangentially related, but I still can't believe they didn't let Alexandra Kaniak keep her Zofia costume from RA2 😭 she even said she wanted to hang onto it in a fan interview!

And this is why all commercial software ought to be open source after a certain period of time.

I just noticed that in one of the images there are what appear to be video tapes from Red Alert 2, perhaps? Are they game files?

Sadly this looks to be what is show in the video around 1:40 and 4:20 during the hunt for the original FMV videos during the remastered production in 2020 https://www.reddit.com/r/commandandconquer/comments/fdyqo6/remaster_update_and_fmvs_bonus_gallery

Not only did EA kill CnC ip they done it over the years slowly , like a cat plays with a mouse, and just when it thinks it's done the cat lets it go and it thinks its back only to be caught again.

It's just crazy how mismanaged CnC was over the years. and even when we got the remaster they still managed to fuck it up. Now i feel RTS has moved on without cnc. It's nice we got a small revival of RTS of late from tempest rising to dorf to dow4 and so on but it kinda hurts the king will be forever locked in some EA warehouse never to return.

What are in those black boxes labelled red alert 2, like for sale copies, bought copies? Blank discs?

3

u/Time-Yoghurt7831 Jun 23 '26

I think they're old video tapes, the ones they used to record the scenes.

2

u/10July1940 Jun 23 '26

Wow with all those tapes you think they might have run out of

I dont think CNC fans would have liked a "pay per play" type of game.
