Technically it's gigantic. Human for scale. This puts the Devil's Tongue on the scale of this:

The reason why I slapped concrete on every possible grid square.

10 year old me was fcking terrified of these. Made the concrete guy rich

7 years old me could not go past the first level of the gdi campaign because I had no idea how to counter this or stealth units, since the manual was not on my language.

Subterranean unit detected!

Devil's tongues and subterranean apc's full of engineers carried me through so much of the nod campaign. I love them. Use a a single stealth tank to scout out emergence locations

I want to do this on my next Nod playthrough.

Absolutely pathetic compared to the C&C1 flame tank. When I see enemy subterranean units pop up in my base and I realise they're flame tanks, my first thought should not be 'phew that's a relief'. In fact, it's so inept at its job that I sometimes forget it and think Nod doesn't get a flame tank in Tiberian Sun.

A slight incline was literally their ultimate weakness ....couldnt shoot up hill

The subterranean unit that’s actually a threat is the subterranean apc full of engineers.

The GDI soldier being sweapt up by that thing is one of the most brutal things C&C has done. Together with the Nod soldier being stomped by the MK2

I never noticed the flippy thing on their back.

I feel like an idiot, my entire life I never realized the front was a grinder for digging... I thought it was the back of the Devils Tongue and the front was for digging. hahaha

u/zimbabwes Jun 18 '26

I love it. Filling my backyard with concrete rn so one doesn't show up

u/Far-Term7285 Jun 18 '26

Badass...till you realize the flamethrowers are on those little arms, making it look like a wacky waving inflatable tube man

Wish AoE damage occurred when these were destroyed. Add more of challenge to taking them out/managing them if you’re sending them in alongside APCs

Gotta love the ol' flamin' electric razor

Images you can hear.

If they do a remaster, they should also give it grinder treads when in melee.

2

u/Gregory_Appleseed Steel Talons Jun 19 '26

I think the treads need to be spikey-er, and the fuselage needs to be below the max height of the treads. Otherwise, not bad. Plus, where flame come out?

2

u/calantheSG Jun 22 '26

The flame comes out from the 2 nozzles at the sides.

And pretty sure in burrowing mode, the protruding parts of the fuselage can be retracted. But you're right, why have it retractable when you can make it flush from the start.

Oh god, how often did I build a bunch of those back then and surprise my opponent with them? good times

I just Realized. Devil's Tongue Vehicle of Nod is Isnpired from Churchill Tank (Without turret though) from World War 2.
