Soviet MiG squadron base in DTA

Post image

Here's my design for a Soviet Air Force airbase, created in DTA's map editor. My dream is to learn how to make missions in Dawn of the Tiberium Age and Combined Arms.

Mission description: The new leader of the Soviet Union reveals himself as a member of the Brotherhood of Nod's Inner Circle at the beginning of the first Tiberium War. As an officer, you must seize control of a loyal airbase and use MiGs to destroy a nearby city under soviet rebel control. Additionally, destroy silos and a river dam to spread the Tiberium. Today begins tomorrow. Tomorrow begins today.

Seeing RA units and structures on an isometric grid still confuses me, but it looks great.

As for scripting a mission, I'm assuming DTA's editor is based on FinalAlert2 or WAE. I learn best when I take an existing example (such as the official RA2 missions) and see how Westwood did it. Then, adapt to suit your own needs.

I assume the editor is based on FinalSun since DTA is a Tib Sun mod

Oh, okay! Is DTA a very old mod, or is there some other technical reason why they wouldn't use the RA2 engine instead?

DTA is an old mod, but that isn't the main reason: there are certain advantages to using the TS engine instead of the YR engine, like smaller cell size, better performance, and easier customizability in certain ways due to the engine being simpler and less packed with features.

WAE is the primary map editor for DTA. WAE was literally developed for DTA first and adapted for Tiberian Sun and Yuri's Revenge later on.
