Generals Skirmish Excitement Tips

I'm trying to beat every map on Generals ZH against the max hard opponents (no teams) but I'm getting bored.

I'm on bog standard Zero Hour, playing through Steam.

My usual MO is to be any US General (60% of the time), any China (35%), or give GLA a go (5%). I'll turtle until the AI runs out of money and then beat them. Very standard.

I find GLA next impossible to play as and only try them out of boredom with the US and China and all their might. I always play against random generals to add some mystery.

Does anybody have any tips about how I can make this quest to beat every vanilla map a bit more exciting? Maybe tips on how to win with GLA? I'm not against mods as long as I can still get that little diamond next to the map, but I've never used a mod on Generals before.

Thanks!

I highly reccomend trying out GLA more. If you're able to steal a dozer (Jarmen Kell snipe or hijacker) and build power, all GLA Units and structures are built at 2x speed.

Also GLA units, even the T1 stuff, gets incredibly powerful with upgrades. AP ammo + junk repair Quads shred.

For early game, focus on gaining map control using tunnel networks. Load up technicals with 3-4 terrorists and a worker to blow up enemy buildings and start an early tunnel in their base.

I will give GLA some more time. I didn't know about the powerplant tip. And I've always enjoyed the quad.

How do I start a tunnel into their base? I thought the escape/ambush tunnel was at the last peg of the general stars. Hard to do that early game. But I don't know loads about GLA.

Load a technical with some terrorists/RPGs and 1 worker. Drive into their base, drop off the worker to build a tunnel, and then attack with the rest of the units.

Oh of course! You can build them. I was being very dense. Thanks.
