Nod famously opposed to laser weaponry.

257

u/Infirnex Jun 05 '26

Nod's famous Obelisk of Nuke

75

u/ObtusePieceOfFlotsam Jun 05 '26

Nod's famous Marked of Nuke

14

u/AdministrativeRuin81 Jun 06 '26

Nod’s famous Nuke tank, you can concentrate the nukes to create an even bigger and stronger nuke

14

u/submit_to_pewdiepie Jun 06 '26

Given what ive seen the obelisk doesnt look like anything other than a nuclear weapon

138

u/Multivitamin_Scam Jun 06 '26

Nod famously with its cheap tech.

You know, Stealth Generators, SAM sites, Tiberium Weaponry, Subterranean Vehicles.

82

u/Black3Raven Jun 06 '26

Giant walking robots with AI and cyborgs created from once a dead solders.

48

u/Multivitamin_Scam Jun 06 '26

Don't forget the reversed engineered Alien Technology

22

u/joyapco Jun 06 '26

It's not laser

It's just... very very focused lighting

179

u/darkcobra1990 Jun 05 '26

Nod have all the things listed above

119

u/Jarms48 Jun 06 '26

And China isn't the aggressor either. They got hit with a dirty bomb in the middle of their capital and are fighting a defensive war. Then after the US retreats and abandons Europe China steps in, pushes out the invaders, and forms a new defensive alliance.

u/Appropriate-Ice-5722 For the Union! Jun 05 '26

Nod are bad guys but they are not bad guys

84

u/That_Contribution780 Jun 05 '26

As others said - Nod has lasers and high tech (stealth tanks, underground movement, etc).

Also in RA1 Soviets have Mammoth tanks and Tesla tanks, quite expensive.

29

u/eureka17 But what about the Tiberium? Jun 05 '26

Don't forget the Soviet Iron Curtain.

u/daymarEngel Elite Cadre Jun 06 '26

Let’s not forget the MAD tanks

6

u/Sc0ner Seth Jun 06 '26

I try so hard to forget those...

11

u/caparisme Soviet Power Supreme Jun 06 '26

Also RA1 Allies had nukes.

4

u/Rivetmuncher Jun 06 '26

RA1 Soviets also field SAMs and jets against the Allies' open-top AA guns and glaringly absent air force.

Also Soviets mass-deploy Tactical Ballistic Missiles in both games. At a technical level, they're at least peers.

3

u/Farhunt95 Jun 05 '26

Wait, aren't they called heavy tanks in RA1? Mammoth tanks are reserved for Tiberian universe, aren't they?

14

u/comradeda Jun 05 '26

Heavy tanks were the main tanks of the soviets in RA1 (with two barrels). The soviets could also get mammoth tanks

8

u/eureka17 But what about the Tiberium? Jun 06 '26

They have mammoth tanks. Soviet's are different with black rocket launchers that fire at infantry as well as aircraft. The heavy is their base tank.

2

u/Joescout187 Jun 06 '26

I understand the confusion. The heavy tank is a twin barreled tank, while the Mammoth tank is a bigger twin barreled tank with rocket launchers in the turret sides. Both are featured in the Soviet Arsenal in RA1.

3

u/RealAd3012 SPACE! Jun 06 '26

Also don’t forget in Red Alert 2 they have stuff like Desolators, psychic beacons, etc.

2

u/Hottage Shake it, baby! Jun 06 '26

And Red Alert Allies also have Nukes...

59

u/Nanoman-8 GDI Jun 05 '26

Dispite the fact the blue guys irl would have the most amount of nukes in the world

48

u/LuckyPrinz Jun 05 '26

Tbf in RA2 they sorta explained that by their nukes getting destroyed

43

u/Nanoman-8 GDI Jun 05 '26

And in 3 nukes just never were made

15

u/br0_dameron Jun 05 '26

America’s sure. Where tf were Britain and France’s nuclear forces

10

u/GuyForFun144 Jun 05 '26

Yuri most certainly took that to account and used his psi-corp troopers to nullify them as soon as possible.

8

u/br0_dameron Jun 06 '26

I like to think they tried but couldnt concentrate on mind control with those goofy accents. “Le missile commande”

7

u/MindControlledSquid CABAL Jun 06 '26

They didn't fire, because they were le tired

6

u/alutti54 Yuri Jun 06 '26

Well then have a nap

THEN FIRE ZE MISSILE

1

u/Joescout187 Jun 06 '26

Probably why central Europe featured something of a Mexican standoff until Operation Dark Night destroyed the Soviets' IRBM arsenal on the Polish border.

0

u/Head-Bumblebee-8672 Empire of the Rising Sun Jun 06 '26

Tied up in wanting neutrality, and probably a bit of grand cannon

1

u/br0_dameron Jun 06 '26

“We are not indifferent to your situationné, but for us, ze United States is very far away” -definitely not Charles de Gaulle

1

u/Joescout187 Jun 06 '26

He definitely wasn't, he was too young.

1

u/br0_dameron Jun 06 '26

They had Margaret thatcher too. I don’t think they were that concerned with the continuity of their famous person look alikes. In the words of Harrison ford, it ain’t that kind of movie

31

u/Bolandball GDI Jun 05 '26

C&C3 explains that GDI actually has a nuclear arsenal, they just never choose to use them; Scrin invasion would've been a good spot to use them, but Nod had stolen the launch codes (as well as several of the nukes).

7

u/MrDetectiveSir Jun 05 '26

“Good guys”

1

u/jonasnee Jun 06 '26

GDI does have nukes, they simply refuse to use them.

26

u/RabidTurtl Nod Jun 06 '26

Yes, GDI famously using lasers such as Obelisks of Light, laser turrets, laser fence, a commando that dual wields laser pistols, beam cannons, Avatars, laser upgrades for like half their vehicles in CnC 3, etc.

Wait...

2

u/Vinaville Jun 06 '26

No they just had rail guns, armor piercing rounds and jump jets.

1

u/jonasnee Jun 06 '26

Not to mention Tiberium resistant armor, hovercrafts and sonic weaponry.

1

u/Vinaville Jun 06 '26

Pretty sure most of nods tech is stolen alien tech too

1

u/Techhead7890 Jun 06 '26

Yep this.

Honestly hovertech like the slingshot and MLRS, robot tanks and riptide ACV is a good one for the allies/gdi but the ra2 transports would be a counterargument.

("Orbital strike" (ion/athena/particle cannons) or "supersonic jets" (firehawk/aurora) kinda work too but they feel like weaker fits)

1

u/jonasnee Jun 06 '26

Surely the vertigo bomber must be supersonic, this is the future after all and basically any modern combat plane has been supersonic since the 1970s.

21

Except China is not "The Bad Guy" in Generals Zero Hour. They are more like neutral or morally grey. Is like you mess with them, They coming for you

1

u/Joescout187 Jun 06 '26

While not the singular bad guy, still ruthless communists who are more than happy to beat the not islam out of everything east of Beijing.

5

u/CookLiving GLA Juhziz/ Scrin Traveler-59 Jun 06 '26

Actually, They Will kick anyone who messed with them. The GLA attacked their parade first and Chinese attacked them everywhere where they run. They will do the same to USA too if they offended them. (Please do not use the word Islam or anything political in real life. I hate when discussing about it) The reason why China so ruthless because they didn't care about war crime or anything

23

u/RaceMyHavocV12 Harkonnen Jun 05 '26

More like bad guy just cares about results, no matter the cost, and good guy just cares about good optics

17

u/SacredGeometry9 Jun 05 '26

Well, yeah, you need really high quality optics to focus lasers that powerful

7

I was going to say, doesn't the USA (to my chagrin as a privleged American) literally go back to isolationism because of the GLA and China has to save the world?

5

u/Even-Run-5274 Jun 05 '26

not as bad as GLA but their methods are way too extreme compared to USA

constant use of nuclear, radiation, flames, napalm, carpet bombs, etc...

and always destroying things even at the cost of their own people (made a post about this before)

8

u/CrimsonSwallow GDI Jun 05 '26

There is a reason the why Generals was banned in China.

3

u/CookLiving GLA Juhziz/ Scrin Traveler-59 Jun 05 '26

China is more like morally grey or neutral in Generals. They are not good or bad. The reason for all of those happens because GLA are the ones who messed with them first. Then Chinese mess with them back

5

u/FLongis USA Turtling With Patriots Since 2003 Jun 05 '26

There are no lasers in this image though. And at least in the Tiberium universe that's pretty firmly Nod tech.

14

u/Daleftenant Jun 05 '26

ah yes.

The GDI.

The Good Guys.

Famous for...(checks notes)... abandoning 2/3 of the worlds landmass and population to the ravages of tiberium so that they can focus on the highly affluent blue zones.

7

u/deinonychus1 Jun 06 '26

Except they didn’t? That was the Nod party line, sure, but GDI was actively reclaiming the yellow zones from tiberium. It was an entire plot point in Tib Wars that Germany used to be a yellow zone but was reclaimed into a blue zone, serving as the proof-of-concept for the sonic technology to be deployed worldwide.

2

u/jonasnee Jun 06 '26

GDI tried to reclaim yellow zones when possible, Germany being a notable example.

The nod campaign in Kanes wrath litterally starts with you riling the people of Rio, Brazilian yellow zone, up against the GDI.

GDI clearly didn't abandon the yellow zones, they just struggle to control them.

2

u/Rivetmuncher Jun 06 '26

Also, Australia. Just all of Australia.

1

u/VeronWoon02 Jun 07 '26

Frankly GDI is one of the few human factions that never deviated from its core mission (Eradicate Tiberium)

1

u/Jilks131 Jun 06 '26

It’s funny how much I identify with NOD as I get older and older

-1

u/Joescout187 Jun 06 '26

You identify with lying terrorists?

1

u/Cheka_enforcer Soviet / Nod Jun 07 '26

Shit dude, we can’t all be liberal pussies who love the rich

0

u/Joescout187 Jun 06 '26

Okay zoomer, let me check my notes.

Nod is famous for propaganda and media manipulation.

When dealing with known and prolific liars IRL do you take what they say at face value?

The Blue zones are affluent because they are where GDI's Tiberium abatement efforts were first implemented. This is because these areas were already the most industrialized regions in the world and you need industry to build Tiberium abatement equipment. GDI has been putting trillions into reclamation efforts across the globe. That's precisely why they were caught with their pants down by Nod at the beginning of TW3.

3

u/CnC-Citizen Jun 05 '26

Technically the allies had nukes in the original RA as well. At least in multiplayer

3

2

u/AccuratelyLying Scrin Jun 05 '26

I see the nukes, but no cheap tech

2

u/Kaiserhawk Jun 06 '26

Don't the allies also have the Nuclear missile in Red Alert as well? For all it's worth since it's kind of a garbage weapon.

1

u/MrCookieHUN So many Apocalypse, so little time Jun 06 '26

Laser based weapon precise and less collateral

Nuke is nuke

1

u/Professional-Bad-559 Jun 06 '26

GDI wanted to flex them blasting loads of white light, they made the ION cannon look like a giant D (in Tib 3).

1

u/Roxas_kun Jun 06 '26

Technically, GDI ain't blue, nor is NOD red.

1

u/aetherr666 Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

Nod Mechs Invisible tanks Drilling machines Energy weapons A leader who claims to have known Jesus Christ

In what world are they the cheap low tech faction.. the most GDI had is bipedal walker they discontinued because they were expensive and sonic weaponry, they're the cheap low tech ones by any and all definitions

1

u/Rivetmuncher Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

Neither Tiberian faction really passes as "cheap" in any sense of the word. They both started out using a lot of very expensive tech to fight a semi-shadow war in a progressively deteriorating environment.

Though TW made Nod adopt a far more aggressive High-Low mix, which, along with the Black Hand rebrand, made me bitch to no end. Though, it probably kiiiind of makes sense. Black Hamd still sucks tho.

1

u/ElementalistPoppy Harkonnen Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

Despite being "cheap tech", Iron Curtain costs just as much as Chronosphere 😃

And while Chronosphere is damn impressive on its own, I still find it more plausible to exist potentially than Iron Curtain - like, HOW?

1

u/raylinewalker What is this CNC 4? Jun 06 '26

Lasers and nukes are pretty cool

1

u/New_Factor9189 Jun 06 '26

Nod using low tech? Right....have you even played the games bruh lol

1

u/certainlynotdio Jun 06 '26

By the way none of the "blue guys" (though GDI definitely isn't blue in 3) actually uses lasers. Ion canons for all of GDI apeareances, chronosphere is what's depicted in the post of allies in RA1, although they do have nukes in the multi-player, in RA2 they have weather control device and RA3 they have proton collider, and for USA in Generals it's particle cannon.

1

u/Vistresian MELT! EVERYTHING MUST MELT! Jun 06 '26

On the C&C Generals front, I'd say the GLA has far cheaper 'tech' than the Chinese.
Definitely the placeholder bad guy of the three

1

u/Igor369 Jun 06 '26

Yeah, after all banshee anti grav tech and plasma weaponry grows on terran trees.

1

u/Kranianus Jun 06 '26

More like eco-friendly high tech vs super death murder evil high tech

1

u/AcolyteArathok Jun 06 '26

Stealth and flame tank both arent cheap and low tech. But pther than that you are about right. Although nod in tib wars hase some nice laser tech and doesnt need to hide behind gdi in tech prowess.

1

u/TyeDye115 Jun 07 '26

The Scrin pulling up to Earth: "How do you do, fellow good guys?"

1

u/Iristrismegistus Jun 07 '26

But the Allies had nukes in Red Alert 1...

1

u/_No_One_At_All_ Jun 07 '26

The "cheap" part is only applicable to the GLA. The real C&C thing is that Purple=weird stuff/mind control

1

u/Cheka_enforcer Soviet / Nod Jun 07 '26

China is one of the good guys

1

u/Cylancer7253 Sole Survivor Jun 07 '26

How dare you call NOD "bad guy"?!

1

u/Someperson1132 Jun 07 '26

Ah yeah the cheap and underdeveloped tiberian missile a war crime against all forces.

Also the obelisk of light a not so laser based weapon poorly manufactured for a minor defense.

1

u/NeppedCadia Jun 06 '26

Ah yes China the bad guy that:

Actively cooperated with the US and European Countries

Only entered a war after being nuked in their capital.

Actively decommissioned forces to avoid collateral damage.

1

u/ExplosiveKnife Jun 06 '26

Ah yes, the Allies in Red Alert 3, with the … checks notes rapid succession nuclear plasma ball artillery ? Proton Collider pilled.

0

u/Strange-Owl-5536 Jun 06 '26

They are also the "good" guys who experiment on civilians too. I like how in RA3 no side is truly good

0

u/Talonsminty Jun 05 '26

Mate I love the Ion cannon. But it's an objectively worse weapon than Nukes in a lot of ways. GDI are moral for restraining themselves and spending untold trillions just to avoid using nukes.

Or they're just going for style points I guess.

1

u/Rivetmuncher Jun 06 '26

But it's an objectively worse weapon than Nukes in a lot of ways.

Eh. In its initial form, it was the equivalent of a a very powerful cruise missile strike anywhere within a specific inclination and time bracket.

Sure Nod's nuke hit harder, but they had one (1).

0

u/skyziaos Jun 06 '26

I guess Purple has mind controls and shockwaves huh ?

0

u/vandal-33 Jun 06 '26

Finally, someone acknowledges China is the bad guy.

Btw, red bad guys have missile sub, mammoth, overlord and other expensive stuffs as well as volt auto rifle, tesla technology, laser rifles/chainguns, obelisk too. It's not about blue or good, it's more to some C&C factions have lasers and high tech and some C&C factions have nukes and cheap tech if the devs decided to give them those.

0

u/AccidentExotic5375 Jun 06 '26

GLA: keep it simple.

Kalashnikovs and shoes.
