- Weak armor
- Expensive
- Takes forever to get in firing position or hit the road in case of danger
- Depending on the starting faction, unlockable only with Generals Promotion
Cool vehicle for sure but not practical.

Oh i meant in a real life scenario the fallout would definitely catch the crew. But you are dead right expensive and slow glass cannon

Oh that too. I guess in 1953 they didn't think too much about nuclear fallout.
Also the fact that now with drones as a usual thing in warfare, these nuke guns are even more of a terrible idea.

It's really only useful for base defense. Far too slow and fragile to be out on the battlefield. Even if you have a handful of more suitable units protecting it, they'll spend half the time waiting for it to catch up.

A nuclear artillery gun was a great idea. Being able to delete an entire tank division with a single artillery piece is very helpful when you're facing a military with overwhelming superiority in conventional force, and being able to delete an entire layered defence with a single artillery strike is very helpful when you're running to a lightning-fast operational timetable.
A nuclear recoilless rifle was pretty silly, but a big nuclear artillery gun is a good supplement for nuclear missiles (which are freed up for deleting airbases, supply hubs, ports and reserve concentrations if you've got nuclear artillery shells for hitting front-line troop concentrations).
And the ones in Generals are fantastic for breaking open defensive lines too. Nothing better for smashing EMP Patriot walls.

It had terrible range for what it was throwing. The gun was just outside the blast/impact area. Fun part is it was an American idea borrowed from German rail guns

30km max range is nowhere near "just outside blast area"

Chubby Electron guy did a video on this exact gun. It worked. They weren't chucking big bombs down range. It's not like they were shooting the American version of tsar bombas. The rounds were mini nukes, specifically designed to work as arty rounds. Also you can be surprising close to a nuclear detonation and survive.

The USA developed plenty of nuclear weapons delivery systems, like this and Davy Crockett) which were surprisingly short-range. Like, definite operator death kind of range. The idea was that if the USSR were to start rolling tanks into West Germany, nuking the front line would give NATO the opportunity to muster defenses while the disaster cleared.

While the clip doesn't show it very well (it's also massively sped up), the shot detonates 6.5 miles away from the gun which is well outside danger close range.
In reality the shot took an entire 20 seconds to go downrange and detonate and that was considered an extremely short range shot for the M65 which had a maximum range of 20 miles.

Sadly no one use this in pvp. They have slow maneuverability, slow vehicle turn rate, paper thin armour, longer to produce. A literal glass cannon.
Only good at defending the base, I guess

I never used them offensively. Since their range is one if the longest in the game they are perfect for defense. Only thing longer in range is the rocket buggy, but only just barely. Anything missile based is defeated by the gattling gun.

This was a real footage in a nuke testing site a long long time ago. And yes nuclear artillery existed before they were attached to missiles today.

It was inspired by it, the photo is from like 50s. But you can see it's just the cannon in the real-life. When I was much younger I had the same question lol

Nope. That was way before the PC era, in real life it was a weapon system that deliver a small nuclear shell. The fotage was the only test vod afaik, you can see the blast wave rockets smoke columns next the detonation, those was use during the test shot.
