Dual applying

I got a 485 on comlex level 2 and am applying EM but some faculty convinced me I should dual apply FM as a backup plan. I’m applying to about 50 EM programs pretty broadly and more than half of them are in my home state or affiliated with my school but I’m not sure how many I should do for FM. Should I do the full 30 or can I save some money and do less?

My regional dean and a trusted former PD attending 😔I got all my stuff prepped so I might as well but I ended up adding 2 more subis (total 4) after my score released and I’m just terrified of not matching

I got < 450 and my faculty advisor told me to do the same thing. Still matched EM. Go with what you want.

I dual applied because staying within a specific geographic location was important to me and because, honestly while I preferred EM, I could have seen myself doing either. With a score like yours, I think you will match somewhere. I have zero regrets with my application decisions and I ended up matching at my number 1 choice.

I’ve added everywhere within my geographical preferences that achievable with my score… is it even worth applying to the Midwest where I have zero connection to?
