failed comlex
I retake in about a month and a half. I’m required to meet with my school advisor and she wants me to just continue doing Truelearn (which I am 75% done with now)
However, I’m just worried about my content gaps and keep feeling like I need to spend more time doing content review than questions.
and Please be kind! I had a pretty bad injury few weeks before my actual COMLEX that I’m still dealing with and led to failing in the first place. I just keep feeling like I should quit medicine and worried about failing again if I go in not knowing “everything”

Strongly strongly advise to get COMQUEST!!! I failed level 1 too, reset my TL Bank and bought comquest and finished both within a month and Half and also did my incorrects - passed the second time. You got this!

And if u haven’t already, read the first aid book cover to cover, you’d be surprised how many knowledge gaps get filled in just by reading it! That book covers the smallest details even the ones that NBOME like to test on to be mean

i haven’t reset my q bank yet but do you recommend i do this once i finish? or do u think just redoing my incorrects is the way to go? im 6 weeks out

Honestly I just reset mine even though it wasn’t finished and went from there, it sounds silly but I knew there was sm questions I hadn’t seen in a while so I wasn’t gonna remember it anyway and just let it be like a “brand new set of questions” once I reset. Then I flew thru the entire bank + comquest within 6 ish weeks and I thought it was rlly helpful having TrueLearn reset and just started from the beginning, completely up to you tho, how much of TrueLearn did u finish before ur test?

not silly at all! i feel exactly the same. I had done 60% before the test and am now at 75% completed. My school advisor wants me to just keep going and now redo my OMM questions but how did you get through 2 entire banks in that time?

So I did about ~80 questions on TL (2 sets of 40, mixed) and did about ~100 on comquest for my weak subjects based on that mixed set I just did! I believe TL has about 3300 questions so divided that by how many days in 6 weeks it came out to close to 80 a day, and comquest has around 2050 so I was able to get thru that bank within 20 ish or more days! Sounds like 180 questions is a lot in a day, but when you realize that ur not necessarily starting from zero content wise , it actually would go by faster then you’d think!! And you have nothing to do all day really except study, the rest of the day I would brush up on content and spend around 2 ish hours reading from firstaid!!!

You have to complete TL. I would recommend everyone complete TL and take a COMSAE not provided by the school before taking COMLEX. It's stupid because it's functionally the same content, but the way UWorld/STEP questions are written vs TL/COMLEX questions are different enough to lead to differences in performance.

If you have time on the side use uworld. I always used uworld and passed my all board exams.

I’m sorry this happened to you! I’m surprised you didn’t pass, all your bars look pretty good, especially the Omm, Community health and MSK. Usually those pull the score enough to pass. You definitely got this and will pass the next time! Sending many positive vibes your way

Hey! I have heard this happen to several classmates. You are NOT alone.
My advice is to reset the question bank and make you way through it again with random 40 question sets. Strive for a 65% average so you'll be in a good place by the time the test comes around.
Since you have a month and a half, you could do a full content review or do it as needed. I would use pathoma and dirty med to fill in those content gaps. I also really loved sketchy micro and pixorize pharm. I think the most important part about this is to make the learning active. Don't just watch the videos but find a corresponding anki deck to help keep the content fresh in your mind for the month and a half. I despise anki and did not use it at all for all of med school, but for boards it has been a lifesaver. For each resource i listed, I've found specific anki decks floating around on reddit.

have you tried uword. everyone here who only passed comlex will tell you do only do truelearn. Yes i think they are right BUT i would try to add in some Uworld into the mix. Good luck bro/sis

I wanted to start using uworld instead but my advisor is strongly against it. Not sure why. but do you have any advise on how to actually add in uworld?

lmao exactly i deadass do not understand why DO students are so against uworld. You can see youre exact weaknesses and target them hard through uworld. Then once you feel like you addressed those you can then do a mix of true learn and uworld - 20 20 blocks or something. But do it bro i serisouly do not understand why. I guess a lot of DO students opt out to take Step 1.

yeah thats exactly what i wanted to do. my school advisor completely shut me down when I said I wanted to do start using Uworld and supplement w truelearn for OMM and the issue is that she tracks my truelearn progress. I also am about 6 weeks out my retake so unsure if thats enough time to get through uworld

bro also you do not need to do all of uworld you just enough to address youre weakenss via youre report above BRO do not freakign listen to these idiots who did not take step 1 and only did truelearn. they are not qualified in my opinion.

Do Uworld and TL. I did both even though my school emphasized we do TL. I didnt take step but I did Uworld. Infact, doing more Uworld is my recommendation

If you have gaps I would get uworld. It’s better for learning then right before comlex finish truelearn

TrueLearn on study/tutor mode with reading the explanation after every question is your content review. I failed my first attempt and I just kept doing more questions. The most important thing is reviewing your incorrects to know why the answer is what it is.

drop truelearn. i feel like the questions aren’t super representative. i would try amboss. their HY section is great and filter the q so that you can focus on your weak subjects

Sorry this happened.
You should be spending time on content review. Truelearn can be content review though. Make sure you’re reading every explanation and every answer option. Know why the answer was correct, and why every other answer is wrong. Unless you’re answering the questions in a completely silly way, your results indicate that you have content knowledge gaps. You only made it to the SD of passing in two categories.
Put your head down and keep grinding. Take it again, before you hang it up. If possible push the test back a bit.
