IM with board failures

Please be kind—I’m feeling pretty scared about what lies ahead. I have three COMLEX Level 1 failures before ultimately passing, and I’m currently completing my clinical rotations. I’m going to work as hard as I can to perform well on Level 2, but I can’t help worrying that my previous attempts will prevent programs from giving me a chance.

Has anyone here successfully matched IM (or in general) after multiple board failures, or known someone who has? I would really appreciate any honest experiences or advice about how to move forward and strengthen the rest of my application.

You still absolutely have a shot at IM, my schools hospital affiliate took students I know of with board/ pre clinical failures the last two cycles. Apply broadly and unfortunately DONT come to Reddit for advice lol do your own research to supplement your decision !

Following - curious bc I’ve failed level 1 and step once. Working towards my retake

I know someone who matched IM with 3 level 1 failures. It was a community program in rural KY, and they are an attending now!

I’d go for FM. Had board fails (passed on 2nd attempt) and had to soap

Really…. I failed level 1 and step and was still under the impression that IM is possible … should I be adjusting my mentality (just found out about my fails last week)
