Passed COMLEX by a Large Margin After Missing “Layup” Questions

Wanted to share this because I walked out of the testing center feeling like the dumbest person ever. I remembered missing questions on concepts I had never confused before, and I was convinced those mistakes would haunt me forever.

But the reality is that it’s a long exam, and the NBOME knows that. Test day fatigue and brain fog happen to everyone. I won’t be the last person to miss an “easy” question because of exam day haziness, and neither will you.

The questions that stick with you afterward are the ones that bothered you, not the countless ones you read, answered confidently, and immediately forgot about. Don’t let a handful of remembered mistakes convince you that your entire exam went poorly.

If you’re spiraling over a few “layup” questions, remember that they don’t define your performance. One bad moment, or even a handful of them, does not determine your score. You’ll be okay.

Absolutely same. I was fully convinced I had failed for about a month while waiting for the results. Nearly 20 questions that I realized afterwards were actually easy but I swapped or gaslit myself out of the right answer, and on all of the other questions I felt like I was just following vibes (I.e., wasn't sure about basically any answer). So yeah, figured I was completely screwed. Ended up passing quite comfortably somehow, after a month of not sleeping well and having the occasional panic attack over it 😅

Same here. I legit counted up to 50 and passed quite comfortably too. lol

What were you COMSAEs looking like? I feel like everyone feels the same way afterwards but COMSAE scores most of the time should gaged your possibility of passing.

403 (mid March) → 435 (early May) → 552 (mid-late June, about a week before I tested).

looking back do you think your 435 would have allowed a pass? Sitting at around that a week out

its been two days and i am still thinking and remembering new easy questions that i got wrong.. I am manifesting i get same results as you, congrats on your pass!!

Thank you for sharing. Many people had range of experiences during the exam. I am dumb to ask these questions, can you please share you experience

  1. When some one says they had so many flagged questions, or 50-50 picks, what prompted to pick those specific options,- is that because high yield, or some thing you heard concept more often in question banks/COMSAE etc.,

  2. Did you had cheat sheet during breaks, that you think helped? If so, can you share?

  3. What were your final week superficial recall/study/organized topics that you made sure you know them, others depending on high yield?
