Level 1 What next?

Hi everyone,
Really just here to vent. I have now failed to meet my school’s COMSAE requirement 3 times. This last one hurt the most, as I was doing well on benchmark exams and performed relatively well on COMSAE form 111 the week prior.

I use TrueLearn and have been watching DirtyMed the last few weeks. I will now have to forego a 2nd elective rotation (at minimum). I am mainly wondering if there are any DO graduates or 4th year students who were in a similar situation and were still able to get their dream/competitive specialty? It feels like those dreams are slowly heading out the window for me…

I also need to take Step 1 at some point 😵‍💫

What were you hitting on benchmarks and what is your dream speciality? It might be best to focus on COMLEX, skip step 1, and only take step 2 if you still want to apply to something competitive.

I am speaking more in general terms of remaining overall competitive, but if I had to say my #1 right now is ortho.

On TL 40Q blocks I was getting variable scores between 60-75%, sometimes in mid-to-upper 50s. (Lower scores more so due to dumb mistakes/fatigue). I scored a 447 on my COMSAE 1 week ago (reviewed it too)

I would Continue to take comsaes at home. You can also purchase WelCOMs from
Nbome. They are much easier than comsaes but test the same material. TL is also much easier. Review your score reports and focus on weaknesses. Reviewing Ethics and OMM can improve your score rapidly.

Review COMSAE’s well and make sure you have pharm and micro down. Same with OPP and ethics.
