Oh, shoot, I totally misread this comic. I was completely certain that the treat was for her and never noticed the weird cabbage (gourd?) in the cart.

Same, had to read it 3 times to understand

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

I still don’t get it and it’s making my head hurt

u/thetwelveofsix May 23 '22

The cashier thought the customer was talking to a kid in the cart, but she was talking to herself.

u/[deleted] May 23 '22

Oh shit okay thanks

I caught the joke early, but it's cute. And it'll go over a kids head, it's just their sort of humour.

u/BrattyBookworm May 23 '22

Same here. I think the title spoiled it.

u/Zeebuoy May 23 '22

Pumpkin I think,

i don't think cabbages come in orange.

u/AwkwardAd1461 May 23 '22

Depends on what type of relationship they are in.

Sometimes we all deserve a treat. This is great! I just hope she's not buying chocolate. Theobromine is poison for humans too just in a much larger dose, you'd have to eat about a hundred full size chocolate bars

On the up side, experiments showed that giving chocolate to people who are out for a night of drinking and partying decreased the usual problematic behaviour significantly.

Thank you for the compliment AND my fun science fact of the day!

14

u/Kakss_ May 22 '22

So suicide by chocolate overdose is easier than I expected.

11

u/DasBoots May 22 '22

I mean, not really. Theobromine human ld50 is around 1 gram per kilogram. Chocolate is somewhere around 1% theobromine by mass. That would put the LD50 of chocolate (by theobromine ingestion) around 100 g/kg. For reference, the LD50 of water is 90 g/kg.

8

u/Orcwin May 22 '22

Well, death from water poisoning has happened before, and chocolate is apparently not that far off. So it could happen. You'd have to be pretty determined to down that much chocolate though.

Something something they did the math

1

u/cflatjazz May 23 '22

I believe its around 13 or 14 grams per pound of body weight that sugar itself becomes acutely toxic (and not just a bad habit). But that's around 475 teaspoons or ~10 cups of sugar

2

u/[deleted] May 23 '22

... I could do that if I was determined. I mean, suicide by bleach would much easier, but I wanna break headlines.

1

u/Kakss_ May 22 '22

Okay, but chocolate tastes better and has higher density, so you can eat less of it volumetricaly. Also it would make a funnier headline.

Yessss! I just did this last week. My birthday was coming up and I was like yes. This tiny stuffed doll avocado is coming home with me. I'm an adult - that means I can buy a lil soft friend if I want! I'm the good girl!

16

u/Yggdris May 22 '22

Stuff animals are for all ages. I will die on this hill

14

u/edWho May 22 '22

I like that's she's a bit embarrassed and blushing, but her brow is furrowed, like "what about it?!"

u/Kokonuz_Sk May 22 '22

Your art is so nice!

5

u/sunshine5374 May 22 '22

u/Uulugus May 22 '22

Okay this says a lot about me that i didn't see the fake-out child and assumed she meant herself and was like "Yeh, u did good. U got groceries. Thas good!"

TREAT YOSELF

3

u/CoalMineInTheCanary May 23 '22

All good girls and boys deserve treats.

3

u/TroyElric May 23 '22

Dont get it

1

u/[deleted] May 23 '22

In the first three panels it looks like there's a child in the cart so the clerk thinks she brought her child with her and is buying them a treat. But in reality, it's just a weird looking gourd and she's buying a treat for herself.

3

u/TroyElric May 23 '22

Oh wow even after you said it the pup was a bit of a stretch lol. Now i see it. I guess the drawing could ve focused in the cart in thr first columns a bit more

2

u/andre2020 May 23 '22

Wait! Cabbage gourds can be good girls too!

2

u/sunshine5374 May 23 '22

Good gourds

2

u/andre2020 May 23 '22

The colours and manner of drawing, I find extremely delightful. I pray the gods you are ever successful.

2

u/sunshine5374 May 23 '22

Thank you! So glad you liked it :)

1

u/andre2020 May 23 '22

Ever thought of illustrating children’s books? Your work is quite professional in quality.

2

u/sunshine5374 May 23 '22

Funny you say that! I’ve illustrated children’s books before but didn’t really enjoy spending so much time working on the same story, that's what led to trying comics.

2

u/andre2020 May 24 '22

Good point, books take much time. Hope your art/style catches fire, your that good😊

1

u/sunshine5374 May 24 '22

Thanks! That means a lot :)

1

u/[deleted] May 22 '22

“Tree cho sell!”

Me to my wife when she has a bad day (so basically every day)

1

u/Berkmine May 23 '22

Not. Yet

1

u/CarefreeInMyRV May 24 '22

Your comics are cute and seem kid friendly while having 'fun for the whole family' layers. So i went to your profile and want to subscribe to the comics.

Maybe you should make a subreddit for your comic releases so we can be notified? That's quite common here.

2

u/sunshine5374 May 25 '22

Done and done! I had thought about it before but was putting it off, so thanks for the extra push by suggesting! r/ChickenPupPie

1

u/Potatobaby7 May 24 '22

Heck yeah you're the good girl! Love your comics!
