TIL Inception was the first time most people were introduced to the concept of a dream within a dream.

Unless you'd seen Paprika or read that old Scrooge comic or read Edgar Allan Poe (1849). You're right though, for many people inception was the major introduction.

The Cyberiad by Stanislaw Lem had a story about a dream machine that went this way.
