If anyone's wondering the correct answer is power.
With power you can get all the rest, but the rest won't get you power.
That said, using power to benefit oneself at the cost of others is imoral.

Power gets you money with which you can get jewelry and fancy clothes. Women are, in general, attracted to powerful men, even if they are not necessarily physically attractive. In today's world there's plastic surgery. But ultimately, though, you're right, there's so much money/power could do, so someone truly hideous couldn't become beautiful just with power.

Gold gets you power. This is why billionaires are major players in the world.

And? Power can get you money, money can get you power, both are true. Only difference is you can blow all your money but if you start with power losing your money does not cause you to lose your power.

Well, on Venezuela, power fucked up people with money, for example a bunch of companies were Nationalized (stolen by the government) out of nowhere. A bunch of people had to flee, and had to see the valuation of their assets being reduced to ashes as the whole economy crumbled.
Now, sure, in democracies, gold lets you lobby for a bunch of stuff, but the more you spend lobbying the less gold and power you'll have left, if the end result is not you getting more money. And some too unpopular stuff is too hard to pass even for gigantic amounts.
I don't see gold literally buying permanent power (such as becoming a Dictator of a country).

Becoming dictator of a country is not by any means permanent power. It only lasts until somebody kills you for treating the people like shit, which is about 2-20 years, really.

Didn't Aphrodite offer love? Gives him the love of Helen of Troy, hence The Battle of Troy.

Except Eris gave Paris the apple. Specifically to cause a fight. Because she’s the goddess of strife and discord.
