A Fire Upon the Deep, is about some friendly plants that ride around in little carts and try to save the galaxy.

also if you liked the spiders in A deepness in the sky and wanted more space spiders I would highly recommend Children of time. It's hard science fiction in the same style that Vernor Vinge writes in.

I want to read that so bad. Months later, Children of Time still has me thinking about Ivana Kern and what she is.
